It wasn't a few thousand, it was over 14,000 killed.
That's still tiny casualty.

Get out of your mom,s basement you stupid kid and learn the facts.Mujahideen are the same, no matter what they are ethnically, what language they speak, what country they are from, whether in Afghanistan, or in Chechnya, or in Syria. Anyone who lifts 1 finger up at the sky is a target. Russians love slaying mujahideen.
These so called Afghan mujahideen r the reason for Afghanistan condition if they haven't done any resistance Afghanistan will be just prosperous as any other Soviet former republic and there were no refugees in basher Assad timeMujahideen are the same, no matter what they are ethnically, what language they speak, what country they are from, whether in Afghanistan, or in Chechnya, or in Syria. Huge compared to what?
Compared to US casualties in Afghanistan.
Huge compared to what?
In the first Chechen war, Russia got it's @ss whooped, even in the second one it still took them almost 10 years just to get some peace deal, and even then they had to change their terms to what the Chechens demanded. And Afghanistan, well, I don't need to bring that up...

the first Chechen war did not go very well because of it was shortly after the Soviet Union collapsed, and the military was in disarray.
As for the second war, you claiming it "taking almost 10 years" and Russians bowing to Chechen demands, well you are just an ignorant fool. Firstly the war was over very quickly, Chechnya fell almost instantly, with the Chechen terrorists and other scum from around the world targeting civilians as retribution for their failure.
As for 'Chechen demands' that Russia supposedly agreed to, what were those exactly? Chechnya is part of Russia
Most of the fighting in Chechnya was done in thick forests often with thick fog and snow to were aircraft could not always provide support; likewise much of the fighting took place in urban environments, this is the worst type of environments for militaries because of ambushes and little or no aviation and armor support. Yet Russia still defeated the allah akbarers with ease.
If you are implying that Pakistan or Quatar would do better good look. We are seeing what happens when Arabs try to act like the big boys, they always lose, the latest embarrassment is Yemen.
More rubbish. Where did you get those statistics? Russia did not lose that many men even if we include suicides, accidents, and illness.
If we look at Afghanistan for instance, the total death toll was 14,000 while only about 9,000 were combat related deaths, the majority of which were due to IEDs and stinger strikes to aircraft. Man to man, your terrorist boys got beat down hard, that's why they seldemly fought man to man, instead they turned to cowardly tactics. They would hit a target then quickly crawl into caves like cave rats or they would dress like women to try to escape
Considering the fact that Chechenya has 1 million population and Russia 150 i would say that the fact that the Chechens defeated Russians in the first Chechen war should be considered one of the biggest military achievements. Its true that Russians returned but today no Russian soldiers exist in Chechenya. You just have a pro-Russian dictator and thats all
(a situation that reminds more of Uzbekistan or Tajjikistan than a federal republic of Russia)
