LOL, I'm certainly not under-estimate Russia technology, they have accumulated a lot of technological knowledge during Soviet time which China was at cultural revolution and stagnation: Ekranoplan is an good example, China has no equivalent and they have perfected their nuclear submarine while China is still at the learning curbe.

Can you enlighten us on how the type 95 sub is a generation ahead of a Virginia class sub or a seawolf sub? The Chinese people I know would not talk about being ahead one generation unless China is certainly two generation ahead.

I never trust these estimations. But we really don’t know the gap between US and Chinese sub tech. And there actually only has one way to find out. Let’s hope we never know.

By judging at the reaction from the US military experts, they believe if China has really mastered the shaftless pump-jet technology, then it is indeed ahead of the current best US submarines, since this technology is considered as the "holy grail" for the submarines.

However, they are dubious about China's claim, because they don't believe that China could already master something that the US hasn't mastered yet.

And you have to know that this technology came from Rear Admiral Ma Weiming and his team, the same people behind China's EMALS and railgun, and most people know how credible it is. The US just got stunned by this achievement from China.

China uses CNC machine tools to build its nuclear submarines.
China has decades of experience building nuclear submarines.

China matches the United States in every facet of nuclear submarine construction.

There is no qualitative reason that Chinese submarines are supposedly noisier than US submarines.

Hydrodynamic hull design? Same for Chinese and US subs.
Anechoic tiles? Same for Chinese and US subs.
Single drive-shaft to minimize noise? Same for Chinese and US subs.
Seven-blade propeller to minimize cavitation? Same for Chinese and US subs.

Unless someone can specify a significant difference between Chinese and US subs that produces a lot of noise, the propaganda chart on supposedly noisy Chinese subs is simply complete garbage.

In theory, it could work.

I just don't know the potential downside.

Is it significantly more costly to manufacture?

Is it equally energy efficient?

It was created by the same team behind China's EMALS and railgun.

This team led by Rear Admiral Ma Weiming has extremely promising reputation as their EMALS is already proven to be extremely reliable.

BTW, the Type 095 is already equipped with the pump-jet without the shaft, and the previous gen Type 093B still uses the pump-jet with the shaft.

well as far as I know they have already started importing parts from us long time ago (bigger and bigger year on year), they are very good at systematic engineering but their high tech industrial supply chain is still largely absent, without it they cant move any futher, since the West embargo, they become quite dependent on us now`````not very far in near future, they will start importing complete weapon systems or parts from us`````

Ma weiming openly declared new submarine used a new generation of electric magnetic propulsion that is shaftless, it means less moving parts. More quiet and save a lot of space as it is shaftless.
