Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

and I don't doubt these poorly trained fighter will be blown out of the sky in less than one month.
it take years for a fighter to learn its airplane , what it can do and what is its capabilities .
if you think you can teach that to Ukrainian pilots in 5-6 month you are in for a big surprise
You can actually, my brother was a Marine F-18 Pilot and he went to Poland and train Polish pilot for transition from Mig-29 to F-16 back 20 years ago. It does not take 6 months to transition them into F-16 cockpit, and the rest is just basically to feel up the fighter. The basic flight principal are the same, the basic functions are the same too. As my brother, who actually flew on F-18 and Mig-29 told me that the only difference is the stick response. You have more stick response in a F-16/F-18 because of the fly-by wire, MIG-29 is very sluggish, as their fly-by-wire system are very primitive. Not sure if Polish Mig-29 is the same as Ukrainian Mig-29, he didn't say that.

The US Naval aviator pipeline is (from Line Officer (ie, no flight experience to Naval Aviator Wing)

25 hours certified FAA Flight School (flying Cessna etc)
67-70 hours on a T-34C
27 hours for Dual Seater fast jet
166 solo flying on fast jet

The grand total for a recently graduate NAW is ~300 hours, and the first 100 is done on a normal aircraft/LIFT Which the Ukrainian can mostly skipped. So your question is, whether or not Ukrainian pilot can train 200 flight hours in 6months? Well, that's less than 2 hours a day so I don't know, you tell me.

P.S. Just so you know, before you said anything, the API stage has been changing from T-34C to T-6 Texan since 2000, the answer come from my brother, and he got his wing back in the 1990s and Texan was not in service back then.

Well, you can literally see the Russian launched 3 interceptor (not sure what it was) and they all missed as we don't see any detonation and the missile landed on whatever it hit intact

I mean if Russia don't have answer on Storm Shadow, imagine what it would be if and when US or Europe Allies donate advance cruise missile, such as block III/IV Tomahawk which they were talking about on some transfer......(Just so you know 250 Block V tomahawk only cost 1 billion for the RAN to buy them....that is within the range of donation item)

Think about it this way. Ukraine is only supplying the bodies. NATO weapons, training, tactics and intelligence are what the Russians are fighting against.
You mean like the Vietnamese only supplied the bodies and the United States beat the Soviet Union and China in every battle of the Vietnam war.

Apparently all is well if CNN does not report it. You realise CNN BBC only published Ukrainian kills? Ever heard of anything Russian?
Do you honestly believe anyone here are using CNN or BBC as a source of information about the war in Ukraine? Spend some time watching russian state sponsered TV, and then come back and claim western media are one-sided.
Why dont you explain why Russia have not provided satellite images of its alleged destruction of so many Patriot systems? Must be pretty easy providing some before and after images of the areas they have targetted with those hyperbole missiles..

The ukrainian pilots and maintenance crews have been training at Fighter Wing Skrydstrup in Denmark for months.
The estimated training was 6 months for defensive operations and 12 months for offensive operations, given the pilots had a good understanding of english.
I believe Ukraine will manage to operate some sort physical setup for air defence using F-16 this winter.

I don't speak Russian nor watch Russian television. I watch CNN and BBC. Western reports are one sided and not factual. And that might go both ways, I am sure Russian ones are too but since when did professional Western media become comparable to Russian propaganda machine? Lololol

When I transitioned from the F-111 to the F-16, I was admittedly surprised at the difference between the stick and rudder movements. But there are plenty of pilots who went from computer assisted hydro-mechanical flight control system like the F-15 to a complete fly-by-wire F-16 and solo-ed in a couple weeks. Now, to completely master a jet's full combat capabilities, that will take a few months, but not yrs. What does take yrs are combat tactics as in how to use those combat capabilities under what conditions. Any way, please stop making declarations on subjects which you know nothing about.

There are Ukrainian Pilot exchange to US even before this war. I don't know nor understand why people would think it is impossible for them to fly F-16 at least at a proficiency level if and when such transfer occur...

Am going to go out on a limb here even though we do not have enough info...

We can be assured that the Ukrainians are/were fast tracked thru the training pipeline. Physiologically speaking, flying once every other day is the best to allow the body to R/R. But I heard the Navy guys have been known to fly twice a day and we are talking about getting beat up on take-off and landing, so kudos to them. Depending on how many F-16s the Ukrainians will be getting, they could be trained then released after training on the standard 2-ships operations. Not 4-ships. Combat tactics are more complex on 4-ships and with 2-ships sorties, the Ukrainians can spread out their attacks to greater geography and time. The Ukrainians will be conducting air guerrilla warfare and with the VKS being so shiddy, the Ukrainian pilots will sufficiently harass the Russians enough to give more pause on conducting the war. This war is looking more and more like trench WW I warfare so all the Ukrainian F-16s needs to do is keep the VKS busy. The Ukrainians do not even need to shoot down the VKS, just do what the North Vietnamese MIG-21s did to the Americans -- hit and run. Force the VKS to jettison their bombs and/or divert them away from Ukrainian ground position long enough for bingo fuel to kick in compelling the VKS to abort.

Hahhaha. Yes that one. Truthfully, the Americans had never fought a peer since 1950.
Here is a chance for the Parade LIne Army Air Force to test their skills against a peer -- the Ukrainian Air Force.
