US to Give Ukraine New $400 Million Military Aid Package

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States plans to announce as soon as Tuesday a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to $400 million, primarily comprised of artillery, air defense missiles and ground vehicles as Ukraine's counteroffensive grinds on, three U.S. officials said on Friday.

The U.S. is not including cluster munitions in this weapons assistance package, two of the officials who spoke on condition of anonymity said. The U.S. first sent dual-purpose improved conventional munitions (DPICM) - a cluster munition fired from a 155 millimeter Howitzer cannon to Ukraine earlier in July.

Included in the package are several Stryker armored personnel carriers, mine clearing equipment, munitions for National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS), munitions for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), anti-tank weapons including TOW and Javelin and munitions for Patriot and Stinger anti-aircraft systems, according to the officials.

is this on top of the $1.3 billion military aid announced 3 days ago? That $1.3 billion package was on top of a $800 million package announced last week.

Russian losses now exceed 11,300

The $800M was immediate drawdown from US stock. The $1.3B is from USAI fund which will buy and produce those weapons for Ukraine over a longer timeline. This $400M will once again be immediate drawdown from US stock.

1. Wfp is mostly funded by…the west.
2. how much does russia usually ship? Oh also around 3% doesnt it? (and only when paid for here) https://oec.world/en/visualize/tree_map/hs92/export/rus/all/21001/2021/
3. Slight majority ukranian wheat and grain still went to developing nations.
4. Main goal of grain deal was to tackle skyrocketing food prices that hit the poor much more. This was a success.

And after the whataboutisms and appeal to authority fallacies. We have another russian favourite: the strawman.
Cause nr 4 there was the whole aim of the deal https://www.un.org/en/black-sea-grain-initiative
“supports the stabilization of spiralling food prices worldwide and stave off famine, affecting millions”
“get millions of tons of Ukrainian grain to world markets“

Nobody expected ukraine, a war ridden country to suddenly run a “feed somalia” charity?
The aim was returning supply to gobal markets and stopping the global food price skyrocketing. This main goal was accomplished by the grain deal.

I don't understand this strategy of trickle aid. Biden doesn't need authorization to drawdown US stock and send it to Ukraine. So why is he sending in piecemeal instead of all at once.

I do

because this is not about Ukraine

its about maximising this opportunity to hurt Russia as much as possible for as long as possible hence trickle aid

what these dumb Americans dont understand is Russia is actually becoming stronger and stronger as time goes on

but then again Americans are not known to be very clever, L.A has 75,000 people on drugs and the streets have zombies in living in tents while 65 million Americans dont have dental care which is why Americans have such bad dental hygiene very disgusting people! all the whole giving $5 billion to Israel

This is 100% false and a lie you keep repeating over and over here. Russia is surviving off its vast Soviets stocks, not new production.

BMP-1s are ancient and terrible IFVs, yet Russia is forced to scrape its depots.

Russian new armor production isn’t coming anywhere close to their current loss rates

you do realise I am not only talking about Russian military but Russia as a whole as a nation as a people and there GDP grew 3.3% in April 2023 the latest figures

thats better than most European economies who have "sanctioned" Russia
