But if you compare it to Aleppo, there seems almost to be a pattern in Russia's way of war-fighting!

for the Russians that’s not war that’s special ops shit or war light. Much like it’s not coke, it’s coke light.

If war then not a single worm in Bakhmut will survive.

And some people ask why all countries run into the NATO. Or why not a single ex Soviet recognize Russians occupied territories.

... those of us who strive to have a Minimum of Respect for Reality ...

... what should we do in the face of this appalling tragedy of sacrificing Ukrainian pawns

That Ukraine would be destroyed was already said by many in 2014

in fact the idea to sacrifice Ukraine to destabilize Russia is from 2008 and the most lucid ones announced this tragedy in 1997

Neither the Russian propaganda nor the infantile European narcissism changes this terrible reality.

the Russian air-force SEAD is non existence . still the SA-6 can easily be jammed by any flanker that worth its shit aka Su-27 and newer and any other modern aircraft of 1990 and after. the system can easily get hunted by lancet if they bring it near front line , they had shitty performance even since 1978, at the time they decimated shittier A-4 skyhawks
It is certainly not a failsafe weapon, but it has shot down F-16s.
It has home on jamming, so a Russia pilot needs to know what he is doing.
The newest version uses an optical control channel which you cannot jam with a pod.

The system is good enough to give protection to Ukraine tanks. Give the system new western electronics then voila…you get refreshed modern air defense.
The Russians use old Soviet stocks, little from Putin’s new Russia. Using old Soviet weapons against old Soviet weapons is good. Russia’s lonely T34 tank on victory parade even came from Kharkiv, from today’s Ukraine.
that is the key point now the question is did Czech KUB received the treatment ?
if no do you believe flankers are incapable of suppressing it ? the system can't protect the tanks because it can't operate while moving . and more importantly when they were turned on they are target for lancet because they have relatively short range and had to be close to front line if they want to have any role there.

i think the best use for them is not front line but actually behind it to ambush airplanes if they want to penetrate deep inside Ukraine .
for protecting the ukraine tanks they need a system a lot more mobile

We will see! BTW, I said "towards" the Dnipro. The primary objective of the SMO was to secure the Donbas which is 85% complete. The remaining ~15-20% will be a breeze once Bakhmut is taken. Then it is upto the clown of Kiev to decide whether to accept this new reality or continue to put Ukraine through hell, in which case Russia will push for Dnipro and Kiev at ALL COSTS.
This post did not age very well….
