Russia to Develop Light-Class Fighter Jet

One thing for sure, if this come out, JF-17 potential for export will diminish greatly...

This thing is still on paper while JF-17 is in production. By the time it rolls out, JF-17 will be moving to Block 3 or Block 4 (stealthy variant) and China's J-31 will also have gained progress.

The fact that Pakistan is an Islamic country and Chinese businesses have gained good reputation in Middle East, Africa and South America over the years, suggests they are in better position to capture sales.

The only region which leaves behind the Russians now days to continue to dominate is Eastern Europe, the former Soviet Union states. At most you can expect to add countries like India and Vietnam, the long standing allies.

I would dis agree, this low observable or stealth craft would command a significantly higer price bracket, close to EFT/Rafale price tag

See the list of countries using Pakistani and Chinese Aircraft. They have also won contracts from Syria and Iran.

* Bangladesh just ordered newer version

K-8:

Current Operators are Bolivia, Egypt, Ghana, Burma, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Venezuela, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Tanzania

Super Mushshak:

Current Operators are Egypt, Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Sierra Leone, Syria

* Turkey is in negotiations with Pakistan

L-15:

Interest shown by Pakistan, Uruguay and Venezuela

* Zambia has ordered 6 aircraft

JF-17:

Interest shown by Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, Oman, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Sri Lanka, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Sudan, Zimbabwe

* Pakistan to Export 5-7 aircrafts to a country by next year.

J-10:

* Sources say Pakistan ordered 36 aircraft.

J-10B and J-31 will be available for Exports also when they start production.

Given choice of cost, technology, less maintenance, less history of crashes, China is the hot favorite.

Considering Russia jet tend to be cheaper to buy than it western counterpart, i doubt it will be close to EFT/Rafale price tag (similar to F-35 target estimate). How much for current T-50 official estimate price tag?

@cb4 Is the stealthy variant of JF-17 going to have internal bay?

I don't think so because it is supposed to be an affordable aircraft. However, we expect more composites to be used on the body and maybe a diamond shaped nose.

You'll find this internal bay feature in the J-31 and J-20

List of aircrafts (2nd and 3rd Gen) which will be replaced that is...
How about IL78, IL76, Mig29K, Su27K, SU30MKI, SU30MKM, SU30MKV, SU30MKK, SU30MK2V,An-148, Il-96,Irkut MS-21, Yak-130.............

As ridiculous as your case is, you are making a case of chinese a/c's powered by russian engines, Hah

And about the 2nd and 3rd gen, are your chinese K8, L15, Jf17 and super be replacing all the mig29's and Su30's ... good luck with that too...

Quite significantly higher, as this will be stealth light jet and not 4.5th gen a/c, thus equivalent price...

By the way, I've seen information that after the collapse of the Union, many designers from KB Yak participated in the development of the F-35.
No wonder for 90s. Remember Yak-130 and that Italian M-346

Also there are some dependable evidences that Chinese J-10 was developed from IAI Lavi with direct participation of MiG engineers.
