Russia to deliver ammunition worth $1 billion to India

We are doing it very slowly, alas, But steadily.

. . .
The thing is Pakistan may not wait to attack us till we complete making our indigenous stuff .

So the solution is IMPORT FOREVER........I know.....

BUT, just think, in a war scenario, if countries stop exporting arms and ammunition to India.....THEN WHAT WILL HAPPEN......

. .
And i own a F-22 just dont accept it officially..

It is thought that between 17 and 20 countries have weapons incorporating depleted uranium in their arsenals. They include the U.S., the UK, France, Russia, China, India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Pakistan, Thailand, Iraq and Taiwan.[citation needed] DU ammunition is manufactured in 18 countries. Only the US and the UK have acknowledged using DU weapons.[29]

Now, Russia to set up munitions shop in India
Russia will set up licensed production of tank and rocket artillery ammunitions in India, top arms trade officials said here.
“We are not only selling things, we are also setting up production facilities. Work has begun on establishing a joint venture in India to manufacture projectiles for Smerch multi-barrel mobile rocket launchers, ” Viktor Komardin, deputy head of Rosoboronexport, state arms exporter, told reporters at the Machine-Building Technologies-2012 defence show near here on Friday.

Smerch (Tornado) fires 300-mm rockets powered by solid fuel engines to distances in the 20-90-km range. The rockets are 7.6 metres long and weigh 800 kg, including a 100-kg warhead. India has 42 Smerch launchers.

Advanced tank ammunitions

Another deputy head, Igor Sevastyanov, said Russia was nearing a deal with India on supply and manufacture of advanced tank ammunitions.

“We have completed the first round of negotiations on the delivery of 3UBK20 (Mango) tank projectiles and will open the second round on Monday for their licensed production in India.”

Earlier this year, Russia signed $1 billion worth of contracts with India for supply of tank and artillery projectiles, anti-tank rockets and other ammunitions for land forces, business daily Vedomosti reported, citing defence industry sources.

At least 18 countries are thought to have weapon systems with DU in their arsenals. These include: UK, US, France, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, Kuwait, Jordan, Pakistan, Oman, Thailand, China, India and Taiwan. Many of them were sold DU ammunition by the US while others, including France, Russia, Pakistan and India are thought to have developed it independently.

India
A declassified UK Ministry of Defence paper on DU suggests that India was developing DU weapons in the early 1990s. It is now thought that they are manufacturing 125mm 3BM32 shells under licence from Russia.

It is a shame that we cannot produce even ammunition in house. We should be able to make them in house in any quantity required.

What the hell is OFB doing?

Get them cracking or sack them.

Actually ARDE had indeed designed a 125mm Tungsten round, way back in the earlier decade, which had somewhat better penetration values than the BM 42 Mango rounds, supplied by the Russians. But as always, the OFB **** it up!!Due to faulty packaging of the propellant charges which resulted in frequent barrel bursts, about half a million of this rounds had to discarded!!Speaks a lot about the professionalism (or apparent lack of it) of the OFB,ain't it??
