Russia rants at India's military buy !

Most homegrown projects that are delayed, because we lack the technology or capacity to do so. Russians are selling us gadgets which they already manufacture and know about, there is no R&D to be done, so its an issue with manufacturing practice.
Russians agreed on those timelines, and money. I am not sure Indian side changed their specs in the middle many times, in that case we can take some of the blames.

Indian Side did change number of specifications, material quality and SPR's, and from time to time, which led to delays. Apart from that, this was a refit and not a new mfg, hence the timelines provided were heuristic and not stochastic in nature, which was well understood by the Indian government, but the western bankrolled so called "defence journalists" in there bid to malign the venture, has done everything in thier power to bad mouth the project. And we the gullable nation have reduced Russians from Friends to suppliers. Imo it's unfortunate,

There was nothing free about it, LoL. BTW, did anybody else at that time offer India a Carrier, or a Nuclear Sub or assist to validate a Nuke Propulsion Reactor for a Sub, or seeker technology for missiles, or Cryogenic Engines, or involvement in a Global Positioning System ? Nobody else on Planet Earth did so! Not for Love, not for money!!

Russia has to sell hardware too. Selling hardware to India opens up other markets and reduces their defence cost.
About these specific things, they wont sell to china and other countries cant afford. Russians are as willing to legitimize their superpower status as US, only difference is they are willing to give more. Tell me another 'friend' they have like India?

all these rants are only emotional atyachar, they still get a better deal than others.

OT, do we lack the technology to make a decent rifle system???

That's true.

Examples are Brahmos(its not strategic, but advanced weapon), Chakra II, Access to GLONASS Signals(the deal is under consideration), help on Arihant etc.

In this market Russia has almost no competition.

And will not. For some more time.

Poor @AZADPAKISTAN2009 will have to wait for some more time to get married.....

Russia is the only true friend of India...

and why some people cant digest what the Russian person said? isnt India saying so many things coz of delays and other things to Russians?

It is all part of the friendship.

Russia is the most important relation for India.

The reason India is buying from others is that India now has too much money and Russia wont be able to fulfill all the requirements of India. Think of it this way, Russia is still getting more money and deals overall then it used to get previously. But India still has more money to buy so India purchased from others also. India is trying to get the best it can buy but that doesn't mean Russia weapons are not being bought or Russian friendship is not valued.

All those suggesting or thinking in that direction need to do a rethink.

India can and is buying weapons from others. Thats fine. But remember when India is in some big trouble only Russians would side by India. (others might or might not). So think before you start questioning Russian and Indian friendship just because of some comments by a Russian person. Also if that Russian thinks of Indians as very close doesn't he have right to have a go also at you sometimes, just like any other friend?

Wet dreams...
First complete the 10 Billion dollar MMRCA then talk of 20 Billion...
India is good at drumming up all over the media about how many 'thousand caror rupiah' they are 'about' to spend and the chicken away

 .. touched a raw nerve it seems ;) Did that remind you of the French avionics deal for JF 17 :)

Someone's backside is burning! They are just upset that the Indians now are using the more sophisticated life-cycle cost analysis instead of looking purely at unit costs which inherently favours the Russian equipment. The fact is over the years the Indians have been screwed over again and again by Russian equipment with the lack of support and poor maintainability of the Russian equipment. India in the past had no choice but to go for the Russian equipment and Russia enjoyed a monoply in the Indian defence market. Now India has more choice Russia is losing again and again on OPEN tenders.

It seems the Russians don't like open and fair tendering but prefer dodgy back-door closed deals.

This really is pathetic since when do the suppliers dictate the requirements and needs of the user?

Russia is going to have to up its game if it wants to start scoring more wins in the Indian defence market from now on.

“Ask your minister of finance. May be he has so much money to spare and India has no social problems,” he responded

It's not too late, cancel the CH-47, Apache and Rafale deal and feed the angry bear.

three things

1. russianas specialli after the fall of the soviet union are controled by some groups whos main objectve is to make money and indo soviet relationship ias last on there mind

2.After kargil indian situation and specially after 9/11 many things in west changed and doors for good and relaible tech were opened and india obliged first hesitentli then whole hog specially with israelies ase they were the soft underbelli of west and soon things started falling in all the right paces for India example = kargil results

3.russia deu to its shear size and objectives lost its concentration and even after having the best concepts was not a relaible source mainly deu to its internal problems and India in turn found new sources now that russians know they cant take india for granted and specialli after the stalemate of groshkov deal they are repenting

now the thing is if india with western help after MMRCA contract and rescent deals with US if gathers enof knowhow i dont think the prospeects of future russian hardware too good in india
