Russia may establish military base in Turkey

.
Russia's eternal goal of reaching the warm seas remains high on their agenda, which is partially achieved by a strong presence in Syria. They understand the importance of Istanbul for Orthodoxy and historically always wanted to own it, at the same time turning the strategic Turkish Straights into "Russian Straights". They also remain focused on safeguarding Armenia and keeping Turkey as disconnected from the rest of the Turkic world as possible.

While it is important for Turkey to work with them at this time to balance hostile US actions against us (FETO, PKK/YPG, Northern Iraq, Syria, Jerusalem, etc), we should always remain aware and weary of Russia's historical grand designs for the region. We should form our partnerships on a transnational basis (e.g. what does Turkey gain in exchange for what it provides) and never again count on silly terms like "allies". Each and every one of our international partnerships should be a 'means to an end'.

Damn. Geopolitics these days is insane. Only 2 years ago Turkey shot down a RuAF jet an look what is happening now.

. .
We can thank the US hostilities in Iraq/Syria for the 180-degree shift in Turkey's Russia policy.
The US will probably ditch the YPG/SDF soon now, considering IS has been basically been defeated. Soon they will probably start sucking up to you guys again.

I doubt that. YPG/PKK has been given 30% of Syria even though ethnic Kurds there constitute roughly 5% of the population. They continue to pose a serious security risk for Turkey and we're waiting for the US to clarify their intentions before we take the matter in our own hands. If the US wants to improve relations with Turkey, they need to give up their policy of creating a terror corridor along Turkey's southern border.

However, it'd be naive to expect that to happen as this has been an Israeli project all along. Just like all goyum, Americans are just the cannon fodder for the Jew. They just became the only country in the world to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and they will continue to serve their Jewish masters' plan to the end.

Russians realized that some one wants to start conflict between Turkey and Russia from two incidents :

1- assassination of Russian ambassador in Turkey

2-shot down of Russian jet.

Putin took decisions with cool mind and chose to be ally of Turkey to foil western plots.

as far as i see ,Russians will share 5th generation fighter jet technology to Turks. If not ,but they will help a lot in many defense sectors including aerospace space engineering

Why are Turks buying Russian S-400? How does this pan out with NATO? And I would think TuaF is more than capable of handling air threats from Syria, Mediteranean? What is going on? Or has TuaF been so depleted post the coup that S-400 is needed?

Apart from the fact that this news is fake, I don't see a big problem in our current Russian policy. I know that the British public is very critical of Russia and that is why I understand your concerns. However, to understand the current Turkish policy you have to bear in mind the Cold War alliances.
In order to prove our reliability as an ally we always sided with Western nations no matter what. People are debating on PDF why Turkey was the first Muslim nation to recognise Israel. What is even more difficult to digest is the fact that Kemalist Turkey oposed Algeria's independence from France during a voting in the UN. In fact, we tried to get as close as possible to the West to benefit as much as possible from this relationship.
Today things has changed dramatically in terms of geopolitics and new emerging alliances. We don't live in a bipolar world order anymore but we still have to produce a proof of our relevance for the Western alliance. The Turkish government is trying to demonstrate our importance by applying a reversed Cold War policy. This time they sheer off from Nato policies as far as possible without eventually leaving Nato. By doing so, they try to show the possible negative consequences for the Western World if we really leave/if they really abandon us. This is the logic behind this defence purchase from Russia and it only makes sense that the Turkish state is investing money into a Western system at the same time: http://aa.com.tr/en/europe/pact-with-france-italy-targets-missile-defense-turkey/960924

Some people claim that the attempted putsch last year was a serious step by the Western World to end this Turkish policy because Nato did support several coup d'etats in Turkey in the past.

Nope. There are some criterias how and why a foreigner country may establish a military base in another one. Russia and Turkey just don't match the criterias. It was just Usa under Nato umbrella and noone will ever be again.
