We can thank the US hostilities in Iraq/Syria for the 180-degree shift in Turkey's Russia policy.Damn. Geopolitics these days is insane. Only 2 years ago Turkey shot down a RuAF jet an look what is happening now.
The US will probably ditch the YPG/SDF soon now, considering IS has been basically been defeated. Soon they will probably start sucking up to you guys again. We can thank the US hostilities in Iraq/Syria for the 180-degree shift in Turkey's Russia policy.
I doubt that. YPG/PKK has been given 30% of Syria even though ethnic Kurds there constitute roughly 5% of the population. They continue to pose a serious security risk for Turkey and we're waiting for the US to clarify their intentions before we take the matter in our own hands. If the US wants to improve relations with Turkey, they need to give up their policy of creating a terror corridor along Turkey's southern border. The US will probably ditch the YPG/SDF soon now, considering IS has been basically been defeated. Apart from the fact that this news is fake, I don't see a big problem in our current Russian policy. I know that the British public is very critical of Russia and that is why I understand your concerns. However, to understand the current Turkish policy you have to bear in mind the Cold War alliances. Why are Turks buying Russian S-400? How does this pan out with NATO? And I would think TuaF is more than capable of handling air threats from Syria, Mediteranean? What is going on? Or has TuaF been so depleted post the coup that S-400 is needed?
