By Chinese criteria, 4G fighters are 3G. Even the the J-15 is classed as a 3G aircraft, but by Western criteria, it's 4G. Similarly, the 5G J-20 is 4G (Chinese criteria).

So by Chinese criteria: Generation of aircraft = Western criteria number - 1.

I don't know if it's just me, but the article is very biased.

First of all, how can the author be so certain that the MiG-29 Fulcrum is inferior to the JF-17 Thunder? The Fulcrum being in service for so long has proven itself more than the Thunder. The Thunder's aerodynamic capabilities are slightly inferior to that of the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The Fulcrum is superior to the Falcon's aerodynamic capabilities <- fact, not just my opinion. To sum it up, the Fulcrum's aerodynamic capabilities are superb to say the least.

Now, it is feasible that Russia's military industry faces some problems to meet the demands of the Russian military. There was a report that Russia is planning to import $600 billion worth of weapons. And $600 billion is a lot of money.

Mikoyan (MiG) might face problems if the MiG-35 doesn't attract sales. And unlike Sukhoi, Mikoyan does not have a great range of products. Another possible factor is that Russia is not a great place to do big and robust business in for much of the part - both locally and internationally. Perhaps that partly explains the problems in Russia's military industry(?) Correct me if I am wrong though - anyone. But still, Russia can come up with brilliant and original designs and ideas. It has more to do with management.

For an aircraft to be 'stealth', it has to be designed from scratch. The Thunder isn't that - but still possible to reduce the aircraft's RCS through key modifications.

The Thunder is not exactly a copy of the MiG-33, but much of MiG's data helped in the development of the Thunder. The Thunder's and MiG-33's cosmetic looks are completely different!

My country and your country along with Russia operates the MiG-29. How about holding a military exercise with those nay-sayers (whoever they are)? I am sure we or anyone operating the MiG-29 would be more than happy to 'educate' them.

The only drawback of the MiG-29 and any Flanker variant is that they are maintenance intensive. Russian after-sales support is terrible.
