Russia is the most educated country on earth

Can any of you Russian suck-ups explain why the microwave oven did not came from Russia ?

They have cheap natural gas why would they use electric system HA

Microwaving is main reason for Cancer who , puts their food under radiation

You don´t realize simple facts. Nobody gives a shit about Goddard, because Wernher von Braun made the triumphant results. Wenher put the things into the sky. Thats what matters. Hard metal.

The nature of science and engineering is that everyone builds on what came before. Goddard built on Newton, Von Braun in turn built on Goddard. Others have built on his work since then. People from wherever will continue to expand the field in the future. This is a silly pissing contest.

Take naked pictures of yourselves and compare your d**ks, it would be more meaningful.

Re: education, the degree is nothing but a piece of paper. What you do is more important. At my university, those that were good stopped with 4-year degrees got to work. Those who couldn't get jobs went to grad school. I know that isn't the case everywhere, but keep in mind there are a lot of people with NO formal qualifications who have been very useful, and quite successful, and a lot of people educated up the wazzu who are useless to their fellow man. School can be a place to learn, but it can also be a place to sit around and accomplish nothing meaningful whilst living off grants and loans. The proof is in what you accomplish, not the piece of paper.

That said, I wonder whether the numbers in the study we're discussing attribute ex-pats to their home countries, or to the country where they live and work? Or are ex-pats not numerous enough to be significant?

But their intellect were shackled by the government. A lot of good those free edukashun were, eh ?
And in America intellect is shackled by capital. I'd rather be working for the government than for a rich thick freak-capitalist.

You are really clueless. Microwaves do not cause food to become radioactive. If you are an engineer, you had to have cheated to have gotten passing grades in any decent university, this is basic knowledge. Go read the Wikipedia article about it. Microwaves use non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation to heat the water in food, causing the food itself to get warm/hot. Ionizing radiation is what causes the damage.

This is not true, @vostok . While there are many academic institutions in the United States; private as well as public colleges and universities. The cost of education varies depending on what school you decide to go to, but there are many ways / forms of financing education.

American college students working on their Bachelors degree can avail of the Pell Grant, which pays up to $5,000 to undergraduate students. This does not take into consideration the US Federal Aid for undergrads and grad students , which is based on income and not on credit rating. In addition to this, there are also Parent Plus Loans, wherein the parents or guardians of students can cosign with the student to a certain loan amount that may be used to cover the cost of education.

Students of high academic abilities may also be eligible for scholarship that may cover part or the whole cost of the education. There are plenty of processes wherein which American students can avail of financial support to help them acquire their undergraduate education and graduate education. The opportunities here is endless, actually.

I work in Academia and have professional links to an American university in the United States, Most of my students are on Federal Education Aid or some kind of scholarship.

He said once.

Endless possibilities were in the Soviet Union. In those days, the scientists of the West were jealous to scientist of USSR. In the West, the scientist went with an outstretched hand, in search of sponsors, the Soviet state payed all expenses.
However, this brought some negative - the lessening of competition. But this problem was solved by creating multiple competing institutions.

I don't doubt the capability , ability of the Russian mind. I've worked with Russians in research and irrespective of their political ideology they've demonstrated proficiency in fields of Physics, Engineering or Statistics. Perhaps this is credited to Russian primary and secondary education that seems to emphasize hard sciences. Its also interesting that the IQ of most Russians are one of the highest in the world; it is in the same scoring ranking as those of Japanese, Koreans and Chinese; who also have one of the highest IQ rates.

Governments cannot create wealth. It can only directs them.

Am willing to bet that you were borned after the ignoble and spectacular collapse of the Soviet Union. Either that, or you were too young to understand what life was like under communism, which is your sentiment. I played tourist in East Germany when it existed, kid. What a dump it was compared to West Germany.

Can the simple microwave oven came from your Soviet Russia ? Not likely. Not because Russian scientists are not brilliant enough. Indeed many of them are. But precisely because capitalism was not allowed that something as helpful as the microwave oven cannot come from your Russia.

Capitalism frees the mind, child.

Oldy, capitalism - is a dead-end of progress.
And yet - whenever you imagine yourself that you know something about the Soviet Union, you have to remind yourself that you do know nothing about the Soviet Union.

Werny got famous because of WW II. If not for that, Goddard would have gotten much further than von Braun. For all we know, von Braun would be working for Goddard.

Goddard died and von Braun took his place. Simple as that. By the time the US got von Braun working, he was more of an administrator than a working engineer. True, von Braun had vision, focused, knew how to drive people, and was a good salesman for his program, but it was not as if he was on the design floor poring over every schematics, nuts, and bolts.

What shocks me most is that if von Braun would have had it his way with the Space Shuttle program, the challenger and columbia desaster would not have happened. Von Braun hated Solid Rocket Boosters. He said they are too dangerous and uncontroleable. The orbiter design was mostly from von Braun but he was an absolute enym of the SRB and external Tank system. He planned to place the Shuttle on a Saturn V stage. Politicians called this too costly and went for the cheaper system. Thats the problem when politicians **** into things they have no clue about. That was also when von Braun left NASA

His original plan was this:

Wrong. The solution is provided by capitalism -- rewards. People are naturally selfish. Offer a reward and there will be competitors regardless of how many institutions are there.

Many of the brilliant Russian scientists and engineers came to the United States after the fall of the USSR. I believe many of the Russian Jews took advantage of the United States policy to allow religious refugees from Russia. The large Russian Jewish population in Detroit area as well as in the Midwest is a result of this 'Third wave' immigration of Russian Jews to the United States. Interestingly enough, many of the Russian Jewish migrants to the United State in the 1990s were professionals, skilled laborers; many of whom had engineering, medical backgrounds. Where they experienced Pogroms in the USSR and had to keep secret their Hebrew faith during those times, in the United States, they blossomed. Many Russian-Americans of Jewish faith are a successful community here.

Capitalism created more innovations than any system to date.

Then what the hell do YOU know about the Soviet Union for you to say how great it was ?
