According to Russian state-owned Rostec's head, Sergey Chemezov, Russia is ready to cooperate to sell Turkey Su-57 fighter jets, if Turkey's participation in the US F-35 jet programme fell through.

“These fifth-generation Russian fighter jets [Su-57] have outstanding qualities, and show promise for export,” he told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency, adding that the jets were ready to be sold.

Asked about possible production in Turkey of the S-400 and Su-57, Chemezov said Russia would “gladly evaluate” any Turkish suggestions for localization or transfer of technologies.

Emphasizing Turkey’s progress since the early 2000s to replace imports in its defence industry, he said the country was highly competent in producing rifle armaments, armoured vehicles and unmanned aerial vehicles. “We are ready to support Turkey’s desire to develop its own defence industry,” added Chemezov.

Turkey is the first NATO country to sign a contract for the Russian S-400 missile defence system, said the head of the Russian company for export-oriented defence and civilian industries.

The fact that Turkey does not yield to pressure from its partners demonstrates the independence of its foreign policy as pursued by the country’s government and president, he added.

“We signed the contract for the S-400s in 2017, and before the end of this year, we plan to conclude all deliveries,” Chemezov said, adding that the deal was significant for both Moscow and Ankara.

He also said Russia invited the prospect of cooperation with Turkey in the development of the next generation air defence system - the S-500 project. “The S-500s are currently under development and will be a Russian state-of-the-art air defence system without equal throughout the world,” he said emphasizing that both countries had the capacity to contribute to such a project.

. . . .
And as such nothing new, more propaganda and attempts to divide Turkey from NATO and the West.

Yeah, I also find it funny how all of a sudden Russia is willing to share its most advanced weapons with a big NATO nation and most importantly a potential rival against them in the region.

I also heard that the Americans are willing to technology transfer now according to a Ukranian website? (or something similar)

Isn’t it funny that the Americans are now offering ToT? All it took was some Russian pressure. Of course it is all hearsay.

Russia has always been willing to do this. They are desperate to sell their planes. The Su-57 program is on the verge of collapse due to lack of funding and interest. They would gladly bend over backwards, hand over some TOT and even offer dessert if Turkey was willing to buy the fighter.

The ukrainian website cites NTV. I refuse to form an opinion until I read the original article.

1. Even if all of this was true and Russia agreed to favorable terms the SU-57 clashes directly with the TF-X. Both are designed for Air-Superiority. Why would we waste valuable money for such a plane?

2. SU-57 engines is not even ready, unless the Air Force agrees to buy the plane with a inferior engine not designed with stealth in mind(reducing the stealth of a already limited stealth plane) then come other factors into consideration.

3.
Will Turkish bombs and missiles be integrated on it?
How about Turkish avionics and EW-Suits?
How will it be linked to the TSK's combat network?

4. All of these things would delay the induction of the SU-57 for years. With the plane not even being active in the RAF how long would we have to wait for ours to be produced and become active?

Agreed. But it also looks like Turkey has experienced increased leverage within NATO and this is producing this oppositional strategic actions and behaviors by the Turkish govt.

SU-57 with engines designed in the late 70s...
I doubt that they will share critical parts, and let's not forget that even India left this project, again INDIA! a country that is known to buy every military garbage on this planet.

We will get the F-35 and if not the US will cut in it's own flesh.

Or could Turkey be acting this way with Russia(and the Su-57+ S400) and the US(F35s) to rattle both of them and see who can offer Turkey more for her money? I'm just saying that its possible Turkey is intentionally rattling relations with US and Russia to extract concessions...more likely from US though.

Turkey playing both sides(Russia and US) might have a cost. Or Turkey might be frustrated its under NATO's umbrella when Turkey could be an independent, strong regional power making its own decisions fully. All im saying is that Turkey is rattling things....and its not for nothing.

The problem with rattlaing with everyone is you are bound to cause problems and it can bite your *** later on ask Tito Yugoslavia that playing with both sides is not bad it shows a mature foreign policy but being arrogant and rattling alone will isolate you can cause internal frictions not needed
