Russia Invades Eastern Ukraine

Depression in Russia ? Sanctions on an energy supplier ? good joke...

Thats gonna happen sooner rather than later.

Gas supplies may keep economy afloat, just enough, and thats not enough.

Without + growth in a couple of years russians will start feeling the pinch

.
NO it does not , when US lead govt. uses armed mercs to install a pro US/EU govt. and not to mention also in the past couple of years clearly violates the treaties signed and expands NATO towards Russia, Russia had all the rights to act on Eastern Ukraine...

I believe Putin has been played by the US.

This was a masterstroke by the US, and it puts Europe and Russia almost back to 1968.

As the most pro-Russia country in the EU, I expect Germany is both angry and confused right now.

Which part do you find this as a master stroke ? all i see is the west whining and able to do nothing really tangible, while the ecnomic Rich regions of Ukraine fall to Russian hands...

Both EU and Russia are challengers to US hegemony.

The art of being a superpower is to keep aspiring challengers busy in their own backyards and create tension between them.

The US doesn't give a damn about Ukraine; it is expendable, and what remains will be very anti-Russia.

NO it won't , Europe has made it quite clear that they wont stop buying energy from Russia and they cant, you cannot just switch supples from Russia to Saudi's in a fortnight you need to build the necessary infrastructure for that...

Meanwhile Russia is making massive energy deals with China and India , Russia has nothing to loose , Europe cannot stop buying energy all of a sudden... and even if they do decade to get oil and gas from the Middle east, it will cost them too much and E.U considering the state of the economy cannot handle such cost increases

That may be true , but the economic benefits for Russia far outweigh the disadvantages .. Europe and US wanted to use the oil in black sea to supply energy to Europe that would essentially replace Russia . The annexation of Crimea has lead Russia to gain a massive oil and Gas deposits , and if Eastern Ukraine falls , Russia will also end up being the bread basket of Europe ...

If west enforces the equipment sales' sanctions on russia, its bound to hurt russians.

And eu consumption of russian gas is just 25 pc of its total.
In a few years, they can make the switch.

All depends on chinese and indian reaction to sanctions and how much total gas china agrees to buy.

Its been labelled as a mammoth 10 year deal, lets hope the pipeline extends to india too

.
I agree that the revolution in Ukraine may have been engineered by the West, but what does Russia hope to achieve by inciting such separatism in Ukraine?

Even if Russia annexes parts of Ukraine, will it be worth the price?

What does Russia gain by annexing parts of Ukraine, and what does it lose by antagonizing, especially, Eastern Europe?
U.S. already put into power in Eastern Europe Russophobe regimes. The eastern part of Ukraine - is Russian by culture and there is still has a huge industrial potential. For a country like Russia twenty million inhabitants - is a huge gift. Very loyal and highly skilled Russian-speaking inhabitants. It worth to get involved in the conflict. Especially that the West, will never be friendly to Russia. Never.

Russia and india have a huge opportunity to expand on the defence ties.

Russians have to let india invest in its defence industry and they would be wise to do that.
Otherwise with the sanctions kicking its the end of road for russians
Your words remind blackmail. It would have worked in the 90s, when the Russian defense industry has survived only through exports. Now is not those times.

Nobody is going to listen to these Sanctions China and India have already said they wont abide by the Sanctions...
25% is a lot , its not a small amount and they cannot just simply switch as i pointed it out, not with this economy....

Interesting....

According to TIME:

"Military vehicles flying Russian flags have been seen in eastern Ukraine. They appear to have defected from the Ukrainian army."

So… No invasion at all!

.
SBU now directly subordinates to U.S. intelligence. U.S. hopes to start a civil war in the territories on which live Russian and bordering with Russia.
Do you think Russia will look at it calmly? Any country in place Russia would respond to provocation. Any.
Exactly both powers are fighting. Everyone is involved.

But notice the difference. Russia defends Russian and Russian-speaking, who do not want to live under the rule of Nazi illegal junta. The U.S. simply provoke a civil war because it is profitable for them to create as many problems for Russia as possible.
Feel the difference?

.
I don't think we can call this an invasion, it's a few vehicles belonging to Ukraine.

I get it 100%. Its like how Turkey moved into Cyprus in 1974. Nothing wrong here.
