I am a little bit puzzeld now.... did not Saudi Arabia bought M1A2 and in 2013 they increased it with 69 M1A2S delivered in 2014, and ordered Aug 9 2016 more M1A2S (153)?

Why should they replace a new tank fleet with an old tank design?

The Saudi Army has a requirement for more than 500 MBTs to be added to their inventory, the US and Germany refused to sell them what they require, because they are saying the same as your post, but Saudis know better about their requirements and needs..
