Russia And China 'In Agreement' Over Ukraine

.
Your long term interest diverge drastically from those of Russia. Ask yourself, with the current Chinese population and need for raw materials, where do you expect to expand your influence?

Also, which is India and Vietnam main ally in the region?

America is our main strategic rival.

Russia is our ally.

I don't get it, how did you not know about this?

As for land, most of China's landmass is sparsely populated, we are the second biggest country in the world by land area.

As for resources, we develop our own and buy it from other countries, Russia being one of our most reliable suppliers. Hopefully one day, using a combination of our own massive reserves and renewable energy, we might become self sufficient. Until then, we have plenty of spare cash to pay for any resources we need.

It doesn't really matter that Russia uses India and Vietnam to contain against China, what serious damage these two little regional powers can do against China?

A lot, India is a huge country bound to get stronger

Vietnam:Sino-Vietnamese War - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

But on a global scale, both Russia and China have a common interest to contain against the US.

It's more like not getting contained, in your case. But this is true.

However, this is a conjectural thing only, not some old friendship.

And do you think that the US is totally clean on the issue with India and Vietnam?

Mostly yes, because they were on the other side during the Cold War

. .
China's advantage over India is overwhelming, much more than the US over China.

Do you seriously believe that India could pose a serious challenge for China?

They don't have to be your economical equals to cause you problems. A 1 billion nuclear armed country? Yes, India is clearly a competitor in the Asian region.

@Declein, no matter how much you argue, it's not going to change the basic geopolitical facts.

Russia is our ally, America is our rival.

These are the basic facts.

Thank you for the answers, I wanted to see what was the opinion of the Chinese members regarding Russia.

@danger007 this is also my opinion

China Russia paranoia at this point is unfounded, China won't expand territorially into Russia, Chinese population will stablize at around 2025, and then start to massively decrease by 2050.

With advances in tech, less and less lands are needed, farming and manufacturing will move to African and other developing nations as we become developed.

Our population will be about 900 million by 2100. About 500 million less than 2025 numbers.

So at least for foreseeable futures no conflict, at least in terms of land.

As to Vietnam and India, if they want we can sell them weapons to use against us if they want. The all mighty dollar is just that all mighty.

China needs russian energy and to a extent military hardware so i don't blame china for that. But from a neutral POV russians and specially putin is an inherent warmonger. Ukaranians kicked out a despotic russian slave president and my sympathies r with ukaranian. It would be better if russia annexes russian speaking eastern urakaine and let the moniroty pop. of non-russains into western UKraine without oppressing them.

FYI India doesn't take sides, if attacked we'll make sure the opponent dies with us as well. And about Russia & China vs USA, we don't give a damn.

China's advantage over India is overwhelming, much more than the US over China.

China has a complete chain of industry for its military industrial complex, this is something that India doesn't have.

China has the true nuclear deterrence like US and Russia, nor India has this capability.

India poses no threat of invasion to China.

We have the high ground on the Tibetan plateau, the highest mountain range on Earth. The best possible defensive advantage.

We have a vastly more powerful military, as India itself already admitted several times.

Our GDP is $9.3 trillion, compared to India's GDP of $1.7 trillion. Not to mention we have the largest manufacturing base on Earth, we could pump out endless numbers of domestic platforms while India has to order them from overseas.

We have thousands of cruise missiles and conventional short range ballistic missiles, and New Delhi is only 300 km from the Chinese border!

Those thousands of missiles could easily wipe out Indian airfields and leave NE India without air cover. Not to mention Delhi itself, would the royal Nehru-Gandhi dynasty risk their own lives for that?

Neither India nor Vietnam could invade China successfully.

Our main threat is America, that is who we must focus on.

Genesis, I don't dispute that currently you have some similar interest with Russia, my point was medium-long term.

To clarify, by population I didn't mean numbers/terrain, but resources. As your middle class expands, the resources need will increase exponentially(and Africa might no be the holly grail of resources as the situation there is what it is)

@ChineseTiger1986 China does not have a nuclear arsenal like USA/Russia, nor those China (or India) deter any of the big 2
