Most people will not know of this plot.

RSS was never patriotic. What they wanted and want is a Hindutva original of a Talibani Afghanistan.

In recent years, people connected to RSS have already assassinated four progressives in India.

This revealed RSS plot is so opposite to a plot involving the Pakistani military called 'The Rawalpindi conspiracy' when some Left-leaning military officers attempted to take over the Pakistani government.

Modi should distance himself from RSS.

That's a really confusing organisation -and they appear to be very subversive (and slightly violent).
But they can't protect the faith for long. People are leaving. One of the RSS heads sometime back was an atheist.

No matter how I appreciate you NilG, I'm reluctant
to take part in this because it's very much political
and your country is peculiarly touchy in that respect.

I will note that by comparison, the frequency of such
things has come down to almost zero in the West so
that my comments would seem haughty.

The last feeble attempt at seizing the army to seize
power in France happened during the "Algerian war"
and was, surprise, backed by the CIA to avoid a French
coalition in parliament to include the communist party.

I see a couple links there and in the real E-one above
but I'll leave you on the more general ( pun intended )
idea that politics have to grow to exclude the use of
violence eventually.

If only because fleecing, be it of sheep or people assu-
ming a difference, done without blood or pain reassures
victims and onlookers alike.

I do suspect it remains for you due to the multitude of
Indian identities creating too wide a PoVs spectrum &
thus with too little concordance and too wide a gap.

The sad part is that RSS would still be alive and well even if they pulled it off. Their supporters are patriotic only when it suits their politics.
The organisation will never lose support unless they assassinate a highly popular right winger who's disillusioned and gone rogue internally to save the country.

Pre-1947 seems to have been a confusing time. Various factions of Indians opposing themselves and the Brits for various reasons, not all of them for anti-colonialism.
