Roads in New Delhi vs Karachi

Now i question you, do you have airports like Lahore, Karachi and coming up Islamabad airport!!! your own ministers say that your Mumbai airport is worse than a local train station. The only mentionable airport in India is delhi's airport. Delhi is developed becuase its the seat of your government, what about the other cities !! Your government is just spending only on capital!!

India has already achieved its goal of developing 90 minor airports to the standards and faiclities that even karchi don't have....airports like Jaipur,Mangalore,Ahmedabad,Bangalore,Hyderabad,Mysore,Trivandrum,Cochin,Srinagar,Lucknow,Guwahati,Pune,Nagpur,Aurangabad,Coimbatore,Calicut,Vasco Da Gama,Surat,Vizag,Benared,Chandigarh,Amritsar....all better than Karachi and offcourse Islamabad...and Delhi(by 2010),Mumbai(by 2011),Kolkata(2011),Chennai(by 2011)...will became as good as any european or chinese airport...or even better especially Mumbai and Kolkata....

Or is this all just because of those common wealth games !! Pakistan is how it is in its daily life and delhi is getting ready for common wealth games so just imagine how would be a Pakistani city if Pakistan was to host such an event !!(ya a few terroist attacks on players by some fanatics...i can imagine)

And even these pictures shows lack of intfrastructure developments.(these pics show immense construction activity)

If you notice all the roads on Pakistan are 3 lane properly divided by dividers and on every road u can change lane. But if you see many road pictures from Dehli show century old Dual carraige way with a Painted line dividing two lanes !! (thats Lutyens Delhi you are talking about...and divider itself is an obsolete concepty...in India we have Controlled Access Roads....which is the latest technology...like DGE,DND,MPE)

And many pitcures of Dehli are also rendered, anyone using Photoshop just look at the color depth and curves. And due to that in some pictures its looking better than reality. (you think!)

Also your hyped up Low Floor Buses !!! Just tell me which aircraft or aerospace tech goes down to make one !!! Whats the difference between an ordinary bus and a bus with a little lowered floor !!! Just a little more head room in standing posture!! and more stability,ease to operate,GPS,LCD telivision screen,AC)

Some body mentioned CNG then let me tell you That Indians mostly put that Blue colored Gas cylinder in their cars to run it on Natural Gas but in Pakistan we have specialized kits in cars for using Compressed Natural Gas.(Delhi has world's biggest fleet of CNG public transport in the world...even smaller cities like Lucknow and Kanpur have them)

And many of the roads being more specific a few pictures in the beginning of this thread show that old block type road style where the whole road is a combination of small blocks few meters wide and long which was used somewhere in deep areas of Rawalpindi long back where streets used to made of cement.(you out of your mind....cemented roads are obsolete...90% of US roads and motorways are made this way)

Now if you really wanna move ahead of roads in infrastructural developments, then what is the condition of highways that run through India?? We have 3-4 lane highways running across the country and expressways extending upto 6 lanes each side. We have security cameras installed in our metropolitans. (we security cameras even in Varanasi and Patna and interstate highways of 4 lanes and six lanes with CCTV on them also on some parts...like Golden Quadrilateral and NS-EW Roads Projects....1,200 km of expressway and 5,000km U/C...with longest expressway in ASIA...the Ganga Expressway from Balia to Greater Noida(1,046km)

All the new towns and housing societies in Pakistan have underground electricity and they are made just like European countries what is the condition of houses of ordinary public other than handful of millionaires ! Now here is the real point, you wanna talk about the GDP, i want to discuss condition and facilities to general public then what is their financial and physical condition. Leave that. (Don't talk about new towns and societies....my city Lucknow has 37 integrated townships and 45 U/C...while Delhi has 678 and 560 U/C...Navi Mumbai and Powai are the biggest and most ambitious ones that have been competed while new cities like Lavasa,Amby Valley,Rajarhat,Sriperembudur are emerging)

Lets compare law enforcement, What is the condition of Indian police, what is their pay? what gears they have and which cars they rome around? Do they have any honda civics? Toyota Corolla, Prados? Nissan Patrols?? Do you have even a proper cellular network coverage!! (They have home made Maruti Gypsies,Toyota Qualis and Mahindra Defence Machines and Ak-47 and other Israeli weaponry)

India ‘Can Be Second Largest Economy in 30 Years’

Apr. 13 – India can emerge as the world’s second largest economy in the year 2039, ahead of the United States, if its GDP continues to grow at the rate of 8 percent to 9 percent, says a former senior adviser and director at The World Bank, Harinder Kohli.

If current rates are maintained, India’s average per capita income would jump 22 times from US$940 two years ago to US$22,000 30 years from now.

“India’s footprint in global economy will go to more than 17 percent in 2039 from less than 2 percent in 2007,” said Kohli. The former adviser warned against India getting caught in the “middle income trap” experienced in Mexico and Brazil. The middle income trap occurs when countries start stagnating after reaching middle income levels and don’t grow to advanced country levels. Countries getting caught in such trap are unable to compete with low income, low wage economies in manufacturing exports and also are unable to compete with advanced economies in high skill innovations.

Kohli, who is currently president and CEO of Centennial Group, chaired a Confederation of Indian Industry session, titled “India 2039 – An Affluent Society in One Generation.”

During the conference, he said that when countries reach middle income groups, they need to do a lot of adjustments, requiring a very different governance, education system, human resource needs and competitiveness, among other things.

“At that stage, India needs to improve the quality of its workforce and address issues such as inequality in terms of per capita income between different States, and start working on those matters now itself as it takes a long-time to produce results.” he said.

In addition, he argued that the sheer volume of energy required to do it reliably is not going to be available. India will instead have to rely on hydro, nuclear, and other renewable energy sources in a big way. He also pointed out that India has to understand that it cannot do well economically if its neighborhood is not friendly. Failed states on India’s borders are not in India’s interest.

“It’s in India’s urgent self-interest to export prosperity to the neighborhood,” added Kohli, who had served in the World Bank from 1977 to 1998. He also said that the Indian political leadership now realizes that, “we cannot be rich in a poor neighborhood.”

In this regard, he pointed out that China is helping out Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Burma because their stability is in Beijing’s own interest.

World’s Tallest Building in Gurgaon?

The state government is envisaging the construction of a world class Golden Triangle City Centre in Gurgaon’s sector 29 by the year 2010. Incidentally 2010 is also the year in which the metro rail will supposedly start plying on the Gurgaon-CP route Each of these skyscrapers will be 140 floors high making them taller than the Taipei 101- currently the tallest building on the planet which is 101 stories in height.

Sounds hard to believe doesn’t it? Well if the Haryana Government has its way than the city of malls will soon make an entry right at the top of the list of the worlds tallest skyscrapers with not just one but four such buildings being planned to be constructed right in the heart of the millennium city.

The state government is envisaging the construction of a world class Golden Triangle City Centre in Gurgaon’s Sector 29 by the year 2010. Incidentally 2010 is also the year in which the metro rail will supposedly start plying on the Gurgaon-CP route Each of these skyscrapers will be 140 floors high making them taller than the Taipei 101- currently thetallest building on the planet which is 101 stories in height.

The government plans to develop this City Centre as Gurgaon’s primary commercial hub with provision for gardens, hotel complex, commercial space and IT parks among others. The Centre will be well connected to Delhi and other neighboring areas through aworld class transport system that’ll make use of the Metro and light rail transit links.

The designing of this project has been done by a consortium of East China Architecture and Design Institute and India-based Fairwood Consultants. According to the design the entire complex will comprise 380 acres of land of which 80 acres would be used for construction purposes and the remaining area would be developed as greens. Apart from its commercial potential, the government also plans to promote this centre as a major tourist attraction which it will indeed be if everything goes according to plan.

And this plan is not just on paper; rather it appears that the government seriously intends to implement it. The Airport Authority of India has reportedly already been approached by Haryana’s Town & Country Planning Director with a detailed plan and design since their clearance is imperative before constructing a building of such massive proportions.

And, if the officials are to be believed, several foreign investors and large real-estate developers are also showing a lot of interest in this project.

However it may not be a completely smooth sailing for the government as Gurgaon falls under the high-risk Seismic zone IV making it susceptible to earthquakes and experts have sounded a note of caution since a structure this big right in the middle of a Seismic zone could prove to be very risky.

Guess the government might have to fly in geology and seismology experts, especially from countries like Japan (another country that is highly susceptible to earthquakes but has some pretty impressive skyscrapers nonetheless), to find the solution to this problem.

So will 2010 finally fulfill the promise of turning Gurgaon into a truly global megacity? Let’s wait and watch!

Hyderabad airport best in India: Skytrax

The Rajiv Gandhi Airport in Hyderabad is the best airport in India, according to Britain-based consultancy Skytrax, which judges the quality of air travel around the world.

Singapore's Changi airport was named the world's best airport.

It was also called "Airport of the Year 2010", the best airport in Asia and also the best for leisure amenities.

Skytrax awards serve as the quality benchmark for the world airport industry.

The awards represent opinions of more than 8.6 million passengers from over 95 nationalities around the world who took part in a 10-month survey of 196 airports.

The awards are given after assessing more than 35 elements of the airport experience.

Seoul's Incheon International Airport was ranked the world's second best. It won awards as the best international transit airport and also for having the best staff service among all airports in Asia.

Kuala Lumpur was ranked fifth in the world. It was named the best airport for immigration service.

Beijing's Capital International Airport moved into the world's top 10 for the first time and received the best airport security processing title.

Munich Airport took the title as Europe's best airport and moved to the fourth position in the global airport rankings.

It is nothing to do with Tiger Hill in Kashmir, and when the picture was taken there was no indian nation or indian flag existed.
