Riyadh rendezvous; Pak in fix over Saudi request for help against IS

There is no need for Pakistan to help the World's largest arms importer.

If usa decides to keep Saudi then ISIS cannot de any damn thing. Saudi pay and usa fight isis.
If usa decides to get rid of Saudi then even Pakistan cannot save Saudi and should not waste its capacities.

Let Saudi seek HELP from ALLAH swt. :-)

Have some mercy on the people of Pakistan. :pakistan:

Let Pakistan remain PAKISTAN. :pakistan:

A full fledged funding of 100,000 troops along with furnishing them with armored, artillery and aviation units as well as air support with a further condition that such equipment will be owned and will be at disposal of Pakistan whenever needed. Moreover, these 100,000 troops should be raised apart from current strength. Then it may be given a serious food for thought with adjustments if required.

Riyadh rendezvous: Pakistan in a fix over Saudi request for help against IS – The Express Tribune

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad is in a fix over whether to accept Riyadh’s request for support to preempt possible military incursions into Saudi Arabia by the Islamic State (IS), the ultra-extremist group which has made significant gains in both Iraq and Syria.

The issue was a key item on the agenda during Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia, where he received an unprecedented welcome from newly crowned King Salman bin Abdulaziz, a senior government official told The Express Tribune on condition of anonymity.

Premier Nawaz visited the oil-rich kingdom last week on the special invitation of the Saudi monarch, who is believed to be looking up to his closest allies, including Turkey, Egypt and Pakistan, to boost security at Saudi border in a bid to ward off the IS threat.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Office following talks between the prime minister and the Saudi king, the two leaders shared similar views on all important issues, including the need to combat terrorism.

The senior official confirmed that the two leaders discussed increased security cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. Although he declined to go into detail, it is believed that Riyadh wants Islamabad to send troops to help it in the fight against IS.

In return, the new Saudi monarch has offered Islamabad an economic package, which includes supply of oil on deferred payment, said another official familiar with the discussion.

So far, Prime Minister Nawaz has not given Saudi Arabia any firm assurance over the request. The government is cautious about getting embroiled in any new controversy which could have far-reaching implications for Pakistan.

Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries as well as the United States formed a coalition last September against IS. But Pakistan attempted to distance itself from any such coalition fearing negative fallout.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry recently informed the Senate panel on foreign affairs that Pakistan would not become part of any international coalition against IS. “It [Pakistan] should only support multilateral action against IS under the UN Security Council resolution under Chapter VII of the UN Charter,” the top diplomat told the committee.

The policy appears to suggest that Pakistan intends to tread a careful path over the IS issue. The cautious approach is attributed to the fact that joining the fight against IS would create more trouble for Pakistan, which is already preoccupied with fighting its own war against several militant groups.

Another factor is that because of Iran, the current government, despite having close ties with the Saudi royal family, does not want to be seen as too much aligned with Saudi Arabia.

The official pointed out that this changing regional and international situation is certainly throwing new challenges for the country on foreign policy issues.

AB YAYA HAI CHALKAR MAUKA ...MAUKA MAUKA - MAUKA MAUKA ;)

i guess Pakistan can raise a fullsecond army fulli furnished (latest gear and wepons and support systems like artilerry , armoured corps and aviation) and fully funded by saudi royal family for help against ISIS and just maybe saudies pay entire dept of pakistan at one stroke aswell as bounty for finishing ISIS

Pakistan should not get in wars that is not ours. Focus on cleaning the mess at home. Our army has her hands full with counter insurgency .

But we cant trust nawz sharif . he need someone who can take him out of jail in bad tyms. like arabs did in 1999. So may be he will rent our army out to pay back for the favours and for sake of his industries in KSA

One way or another we are already helping SA in its operations against IS. The issue is not if Pakistan can deploy troops in SA in support and planning roles but in combat roles.

If SA wants the deployment of 'combat boots' it will strech Pakistan's military much more. We have 250,000 troops engaged in CT ops against TTP, most of SSG units are also deployed on either battlefront or on ISR duties inside the urban centers. Plus India is turning up the heat on the border.

60,000 FC troops are planned for redeployment to IRAFPAK border to improve border security, and FC KPK is fully engaged in war against TTP.

Keeping the Iran issue aside because i think its pure BS. Iran wouldn't worry if Pakistan joined the fight against Daes...an enemy of Iran, SA and Turkey. The main issue in my mind is if or not we can deploy combat troops without harming our own fight against TTP and without giving Modi more reason for his 'trigger diplomacy'.

Do you Honestly believe IS is stupid enough to attack KSA

If SA wants Pakistan to send a detachment of troops then it means the threat from Daesh is not only real but higher than they originally estimated.

They don't want they didn't asked when ISIS was at their peak, they are not going to ask now, when ISIS is on defensive and even Iraqi Forces are now taking ISIS. Saudis are way better trained and equipped and motivated to fight ISIS than Iraqis, they want to form block against Iran and also start there nuclear program now.

Why would they want the JF 17 when they can afford the latest high tech American goodies. Daeesh is currently hated by practically everyone around the world except terrorists and their sympathizers. An operation against Daeesh could thus make us look good in the international community, but this comes at the cost of stretching our already limited resources and potentially creating new dangerous enemies. For me its a no hence unless the Saudis make us a crazy good offer. We already have too much on our plates.

No one minds, including Iran. Reality is, Pakistan is too smart become part of a game that only benefits Saudis strategically while creating huge new problems for Pakistan itself. But all said, if Pakistan is able to milk something out of Saudis then it is fine. Station a few troops there, and make sure you are paid in billions of dollars in cash, not a "deferred" payment for oil, that you will have to pay anyways, now or later. If US can make use Saudis as a cash cow, why not the brotherly nation of Pakistan?
