There was no Japanese imperial army after World War II. Whatever weapons left by the losing army are considered as war spoils. Getting the war spoils from a losing army is NOT considered as getting support from it.PLA got support from Japanese imperial army. That is why they won the civil war.
At 1942, KMT almost wipe out new 4th army. By 1947, the new 4th army rebranded as 3rd Field Army is instrumental in defeating KMT in Xuzhou campaign -- thanks to the arm cache of imperial army.
In contrast, KMT was getting weapons from US, which was truly getting support from it.
