Review GSP Status If Pakistan Fails To Persuade Taliban: EU

 Told you shouldn't have got involved. No other country would ever vouch for you like this ever.

As soon as the WOT started you should have kicked out all the refugees and Taliban with them and shut the border tight, they are not worth the bother. Now you are grouped in with these imbeciles who will no doubt let you down.
Please, please, please and then please some more and they will ask for more

.
As I keep saying, let us see what happens over the next few months.
But do you see the difference in EU and US stance - EU is only asking for peace, stability and anti terrorism. This is a lot more pragmatic.

EU can ask to sing kumbaya too. The influence can only be proportional to the economic impact, That is the only correctly pragmatic way to look at this.

I understand the economic impact on Pakistan. But I am pointing to differences in interests of EU and US. Both EU and US are asking for specific things from Pakistan. US seems to be taking an idealistic approach where as EUs demands are in line with what Pakistan actually wants, and I don’t see any mention of govt recognition.
So in short:
EU demands are pragmatic from Pakistans perspective and may even support (or not oppose) the eventual acceptance of Taliban govt (how can you ensure stability without dealing with the actual govt)
US wants HR gains to be preserved along with ensuring Afghan soil is not used for terrorism again.
Now for greater responsibilities you kind of need greater power too …

Not really. Both EU and US will use noble words, but what they are looking for here is anything but. Let us remain clear on that. Their intentions are clearly geopolitical to serve their own interests. Pakistan must do the same.

I wish Pakistan could be seen as an independent country. I think we messed up the moment Zia agreed to help CIA set up the Taliban in the 70s.

What's interesting is, Afghanistan used us to become a power by invading us and now they are using us again by using our political leverage. Don't we ever learn lessons from history?

During the Hijrat movement in 1920s they robbed and threw out Pakistanis wanting to start a new life.

They didn't recognize the durand line and still dont.

How many more examples do I need to give you, and now your PM is vouching for them on international forums?

Zia agreed with the CIA to form the Taliban? So Zia agreed to help the Afghans despite them not recognizing the durand line as a border? That's just stupidity.

You have an underbelly of people who do not relate with Pakistani values or nationalism and these are cockroaches that are leading you to make bad decisions. Clean your home.

Geopolitical realignment really...

Perhaps, turning the page on post colonial pet project of the west and joined at the hip with western interests, projection, markets, currency, trade and political leverage through cultivated leaders.
Perhaps returning to the normal... neighborhood that exists and connecting with old ties, routes, trades, culture and common interests.

Pakistan of course cannot balance with EU but with Russia, China, Iran, Central Asia and Turkiye, it may...

Didn't Pakistan try its hardest to facilitate an inclusive government? Even hosting all the former Northern Alliance leaders?

Afghanistan is a side show. Pakistan is the prize. No matter what you do, short of complete supplication will result in this. Haven't we learnt now in 70+ years.
They just want to defang Pakistan to enable India to rise and counter China. If the establishment hasn't got the memo yet from Aukus yet they should be shot in their gonads.

they are saying like taliban are our pets  air support and ground support in panjsher ? EU follow gen bakri accounts ?

When did you see the light? Good for you.

I think the blame on Zia is uncalled for he was dealing with a situation that could've been prevented long ago had PM Liaquat not acted stupidly and rode to the US without an invite and angering the neighborhoods pit bull. You don't piss of your colony by supporting another colony through U-2 flights and stuff and becoming a bulls eye target for no God forsaken reason, because at the end of the day you have to live in yours. Since that moment in time nothing has gone straight, as it's been more of a curse that mans decision than a blessing. If it was in my hands I would dig out that manhoos Liaquats body from its grave and flog it day and night.

This article does not explain what the EU means by 'stability and security' in Afghanistan. With the Taliban takeover, the civil war in the country has come to an end. Does that mean Afghanistan is safe and secure now? Seems like this is nothing more than a non-consequential parliamentary resolution that would not amount to anything.
