What role plays Turkey I failed to see. Troops in Afghanistan? - They dont participate in any combat missions and only take pics with locals. When US wanted to attack Iraq Turkey refused to use its territory, Arabs allowed. Saudi Arabia give currently billions to Egypt and Lebanon so they wont fall to Iran and Islamic radicals. Turkey only gives advices. Gas pipeline to Europe? Well there is Nabucco project. It was proposed to counter Russian ambitions. But currently it seems that Turkey has 10 times more ambitions than Russia, so futire of that project is very doubtful.haha lol...
if USA loose Saudi Arabia they just move to the other oil countries in the middle east, not so hard. whereas Turkey is more important because of it's role. Turkey is a part of NATO has bases in it's country and gas pipelines goes to Europe trough Turkey. Turkey is probably more important than most of the arab countries in the middle east. loose some arab countries not so significant. loose Turkey and you will regret it.
simple as that. what does SA contribute to USA with other than giving them oil and signing huge defence deals. they are a part of NATO? they have troops in Afghanistan? they have contributed a lot in the war on terror, or at least more than Turkey?
