What's new

Rejected by Modi but headed for Nobel Prize

What business does govt have to save a private company?
it is illegal.

government owns the banks. who do you want industrialists to borrow money from ?
privatize the banks. you won't have to deal with the nonsense

.
RBI is not concerned with the loans given by the Individual banks. It is not in RBI jurisdiction to question whom individual banks give loans too. RBI main function is to set monetary policy, CRR, controlling inflation and setting interest rates. And Rajan will make 1000 times better RBI governor than Patel.

You are so wrong.

Rajan and Manmohan Singh met and decided how to share the hefty bribe that Vijay Mallya was prepared to pay, so that farmer's sons working in far away countries for the betterment of their families would be deprived of their share of money to be recovered from the black economy.

Or something on those lines.

Borrowing is based on certain criteria laid down in the rules.
Govt is not in the business of asking banks to give loans.

What MMS did and what Rajan enabled was forcing the banks hands, which is illegal.

Yeah, yesterday I earned too many certificates.
My replies to this thread are apt. The context of the name of thread or it's contents is not lost on us "certified" Bhakths.

Does anyone have a crystal ball to find out what is found and what is lost on certified bhakts?

Oh, I see that you are from the south. OK, certified bhakths.

Your replies on this thread are like your replies on everything else: monomaniacal, dependent on one report, and otherwise a series of accusations interleaved with whining retractions, and futile attempts at making amends. Please don't ask for detail; there is a paper trail some miles long.

It's not the RBI concern to talk about intolerance or politics.
Yet, it happened.

So....

When he was talking, he was talking as an individual citizen who was concerned about the country. But even Modi will agree that Rajan was a good RBI governor. He was replaced because of demonetization.

Politicians and corrupt bank officials are responsible for loans to Vijay Malya not RBI.

As individual he could have questioned MMS pressurizing banks giving loans to Mallya.
As part of being RBI governor, he has more duty towards NPA's than towards intolerance.

So now the retractions begin.

Only in your mind sir.

As could any other of India's 1.3 billion citizens. What makes you single him out? And as an RBI governor, he can set policy, he cannot interfere with the day-to-day working of banks, just because you see his failure to do so as signs of a conspiracy.

Since you are ignorant and determined to remain ignorant of anything that interferes with your settled view of things, you might need to be reminded that there is a Department of Banking Affairs that deals with administration of individual banks. The RBI has no direct jurisdiction; it manages banks, as a group, through general policy.

Only in your mind sir.

Whatever that was about. I am a materialist. I go by the event, not the declaration of intent.

No, he cannot question individual banks on their decisions, nor is it his area of expertise to evaluate credit profiles of applicants. Yes, NPA is RBI responsibility and and he was making a good progress regarding that. After Rajan left everybody forget talking about NPAs.

And let us not become intolerant by denying other's right to talk on issues he feel passionate about. Yes, you can refute what he is talking, but you cannot question his right to express his opinion, unless he is violating the rules set by government not to reveal confidential information as a RBI Governor

Whatever that was about.

This is a political thread created by a troll to troll.
Why are you surprised that this is the response this thread is getting?

have you even read the title of the thread?

I am interested in where the responsibility for this needs to be fixed. That will be done.
What I can in the mean time debate is MMS pressurising banks to give loans to Mallya - which is illegal.

Rajan is brought into discussion purely because people here use him as sword to bash Modi.
Since Rajan suddenly found his voice under Modi, I am only questioning his lack of voice under MMS.

Strange that voices are found only under certain dispositions and only on certain topics?

I am not duplicitous like certain sections everywhere to curtail anyone's voice. I am only questioning his lack of voice when MMS was conniving with Mallya to loot India.
As RBI governor, unless he was moron, he was aware of what was happening. He was silent, wasn't he?

I guess we are arguing in circles. Yes, you are entitled to your opinion. But I would not blame Rajan for the Malaya fiasco. It is MMS, Chidamram and top executives of the banks that are the main culprits even more so than Malaya himself.

The only thing I didn't liked about Rajan was Rajan was a very cautious and risk averse. He could have taken a more liberal approach regarding inflation and interest rates cuts when economy was going great. This would have given impetus to private investments leading to higher GDP growth.
