Regional petrol prices and Pakistan

different country has different energy policy.
The retail price of gasoline in China is adjusted every two weeks.
Consists of a series of weights including the price of crude oil. When the price of crude oil is low to a certain extent, the retail price will no longer decrease, and when the price of crude oil is high to a certain extent, the retail price will not increase.
PetroChina and Sinopec, two major oil companies, need to do a lot of non-profit gas station projects. For example, the gas stations that are needed in the desert, the gas stations that are needed in the highland, and the gas stations in other areas that are not likely to be profitable, these are public and non-profit infrastructure.

I live in Western Europe and I can tell you these guys are probably the luckiest in terms of natural resources - indeed this is what powered the industrial revolution. Leaving others just UK -

  • amongst biggest coal reserves in world
  • amongst biggest iron reserves in world
  • huge tin mines
  • huge oil reserves
  • huge gas reserves
  • etc

And East Asia is another mother lode of resources. Manchuria, Brunie, Indonesia, Malaysia etc are loaded.

Thar Coal reserves are some of the lowest quality on earth - with lw methene index but high water content. They only just about became economical recently thanks to Chinese technology. And if Pakistan is so loaded why are the Chinese pulling $10s of billions of coal, iron etc from Australia given that country is endemic with hatred of Chinese?
I never said Thar coal can be exported...did Germany export its lignite? You can use Thar coal to power industry...which can produce goods for export.

By keeping levy to lowest possible (Rs4.80), Pakistan is offering competitive petrol prices to the consumers.
Here's the regional comparison of petrol prices :

This not an achievement of the Pakistan government and Imran Khan if you asked me.

We are also paying only approx 100/per litter in Indian rupees. No one is paying 200rs for per litter.

A strong rupee has several advantages. First, it moderates inflation. Second, it lowers the cost of imports. So the Indian government is taking advantage and getting good revenue from taxes.

People from both countries are paying the same local currency for per/liter petrol.

.
Does that mean 205INR equals 108PKR?
Other way around

Yes. But currently there is a need to increase prices by Rs. 2-3. Prices in international market are increasing gradually. If we wait now, we will have to increase prices by PKR 10 per litre atleast.
Increase petrol taxes and raise residential electric rates, Revenues can be use to address circular debt issues in the power grid and lower energy costs for export industries. This will increase forex and boost exports.

Common approach in East Asia during its high growth era's has been to sacrifice electricity/energy to the common person....and charge the common person more for energy to subsidize costs and availability of energy for export industry.

Bangladesh is doing the same today. Only 60-70% of Bangladeshis even have access to electricity...much lower then in Pakistan. But what energy they do have is provided cheaply to export industries.

Pakistan must adapt to be be competitive.

thats now how it works. In India minimum wage is Indian rupees 5k vs rs20k in Pakistan.

What about petrol card? no body can buy petrol w/o the card!! so anybody exceeds lets say 300 litre a month, then he has to pay say 250 Rs/litre. Each car/vehicle should have a petrol card instead of person.

@PaklovesTurkiye @Norwegian @_NOBODY_
@Indos does Indonesia produces oil, sufficient for its needs?

Nope, we have become net oil importer since 2003 and the import keep increasing as the demand increases due to growing economy.

Indonesia has two petrol price, a subsidize and non subsidize ones. But majority buy non subsidize petrol where the price is fluctuating based on oil market price fluctuation.

The reason Indonesian use non subsidize one is because it is the petrol that is fit with current engine while subsidize one can actually damage engine.

BD and India prices are unrealistic for Pakistan. In BD opposition doesn't exist, its not even proper democracy. In India BJP win elections based on how many muslims they lynch so political cost of high price is quite low.

So for Pakistan best option is around Rs130 to generate revenues. But Imran Khan is taking extreme stand of not increasing prices which is just short term political gain.

what is the average income of people of those countries? also, what is the value of inr and taka vs pkr? these comparisons should be posted with the price comparison.

Mentioned in past posts that Pakistan has cheap petrol and residential electricity compared other similar countries in Asia......but commercial/industrial electric rates are much higher when compared other similar countries in Asia. This hurts manufacturing competitiveness when compared to other similar countries in Asia.

Why don't you thank PMLN and also to PPP for that!!

After all it was their policy to give their corrupt chumps lucrative contracts off IPP. Get capacity payments if you produce or not.
Because of it, Pakistan loses competitiveness and also suffer in the budget allocation. This money could be put to some other good uses.
