So WHERE does the answer say that USA was seeking a base?
This is the answer: "We have had constructive discussions in the military, intelligence and diplomatic channels with Pakistan about the future of America’s capabilities to ensure that Afghanistan never again becomes a base from which Al Qaeda rises or any other terrorist group can attack the United States.”
The US media reported if Pakistani media is not enough for you. Another one from Newyork Times.
"The government in Islamabad is unlikely to sign off on any U.S. strikes against the Taliban that are launched from a base in Pakistan"

The rapid withdrawal of U.S. troops has left the agency seeking ways to maintain its intelligence-gathering, war-fighting and counterterrorism operations in the country.

Why did State department spox said when asked a direct simple question ' I will not go into details' and not give a clear denial US asked for bases?
Have you read the article which I shared in last reply?
It was covered in the news after CIA Burns visit, I will share the news clipping aswell. Both safi on geo and Dawn news bulliten headline. ( Before IK said absolutely not).
Do you really think out of nowhere IK was asked that question when there was nothing going on in the background?
