Syrian protests started when some teenage whom were arrested for graffiti that had been copied from North Africa ‘the people want to overthrow the regime’. It was reported that they were abused by local police, President Bashar al Assad intervened, the local governor was sacked and the teenagers were released.
There are reports that some militia amongst people killed police officers (7 of them) in the first days of protests , communication center and the national hospital were attacked , protesters also burned the headquarters of the Baath Party and the court house in Dara’a. , in first month 10s of Syrian army were ambushed and killed .. the idea of peaceful protests in Syria is a lie for example guns, AK47s, hand grenades and other ammunition as well as stashes of Syrian money were seized from Al-Omari mosque in Daara in the beginning of the protests :
For example the stream media saying that there was no armed protests in Syria before 2012 :
The regime has gone on a killing, torturing and jailing spree for nearly a year, and is still unable to crush the resistance that has now begun to arm itself and to exercise self-defense.

But in reality:
Hashem claims Al Jazeera refused to air footage of dozens of armed gunmen engaging with targets inside Syrian territory in May 2011. He and his crew, Hashem reports, also witnessed armed groups entering Syria three weeks earlier, in April 2011, but were only able to capture them on film in May. Some of the weapons they sighted included Kalashnikovs and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPGs).
But now Hashem reveals that he has in hand the actual censored video footage of opposition gunmen engaged in clashes in Syria last May and that it will be broadcast later this week.
During a brief preview of the footage on his iPad in a Beirut cafe, the veteran journalist explains: “I have both the footage which Al Jazeera refused to air and footage of the segment that was broadcast. On air, I am telling viewers that I am witnessing armed men clashing with the Syrian army, though what you read on Al Jazeera’s screen says something entirely different. This is in the Talkalakh area on the Syrian-Lebanese border, on the Syrian side. You can see the militants shooting in the video. And when you do a comparison of the two videos, you can see they are in the same place.”
Below is a still shot from Hashem’s exclusive footage showing gunmen operating inside Syria in May 2011:

Actually removal of Assad had been on agenda since 2005 started with assassinating of Harriri in Lebanon proceeded by 2006 war in Lebanon and went on till now ...
Buddy Syria like all other Arab countries had not enjoyed a democratic Gov that's for sure ...for example there was emergency state for decades , a single party ruled the country and many other things ... but the same happened in Egypt , there was a dictator by the name of Mr. Mobarak the same emergency state for decades and one person ruled the country for a long time .. the only different between them was nobody sent weapons and jihadist within the Egypt no money from PGGC to arm and also bankroll the terrorists to topple Mobarak ....but the same guys whom are against Assad dictatorship stood with Mobarak to the last minutes and later on toppled elected democratic government of Egypt through a military coup .... these guys are the same people that are bombing Yemen 24/7 and sent troops to crackdown Bahraini people peaceful protests the same people that bankrolled Saddam to invade Iran and then bankrolled and invited NATO and the USA to invade Iraq after attacking and invading Kuwait.
