Ready for war: US says it will FIGHT if China invades Philippines – alarm bells ring

I think its unfair to ignore and not recognize that Northern Alliance and War lords provided the man power in the thousands against Taliban, US provided Air cover for which Taliban has no answer because they are not a proper Army which has Air force etc, Taliban did what they do best and literally the exact same thing they did with USSR, turn the War into a Guerilla war and waiting game and watch who blink first, And US did blink.
The Northern Alliance provided the manpower, so why not Pakistan provided the air power? Someone said Pakistan gave US files on the Taliban, right? That means there was no need for US to be there to topple the Taliban...And yet...We had to...

.
This time, the fight will be at sea...And given the gender imbalance in China, the US will help China on that ratio. One PLAN shipload after another.

not sure if you have ever studied warfare.... an enemy will fight in the manner it suits them best.... they will fight on their terms not yours.

what makes you think Chinese won't open another front where you are extremely venerable.

Ready for war: US says it will FIGHT if China invades Philippines – alarm bells ring

CHINA's President Xi Jinping has been warned any attack on Philippine armed forces in the South China Sea will prompt a US military response, in a stark illustration of escalating tensions in the region.

US Secretary of State Andrew Blinken’s comments came on the same day Beijing bragged about “driving away” a US vessel which it accused of illegally entering Chinese waters close to the Parcel Islands yesterday. Mr Blinken issued his written statement on the fifth anniversary of a ruling by an arbitration tribunal repudiating China's vast territorial claims in the South China Sea, which encompass the so-called Nine Dash Line, also contested by Brunei, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Referring to the rejection by former President Donald Trump's administration of China's claims to offshore resources in most of the South China Sea, Mr Blinken said: "The United States reaffirms its July 13, 2020 policy regarding maritime claims in the South China Sea.

"We also reaffirm that an armed attack on Philippine armed forces, public vessels, or aircraft in the South China Sea would invoke US mutual defence commitments under Article IV of the 1951 US-Philippines Mutual Defence Treaty.

"Nowhere is the rules-based maritime order under greater threat than in the South China Sea.

"The People's Republic of China continues to coerce and intimidate Southeast Asian coastal states, threatening freedom of navigation in this critical global throughway."

The section referred to by Mr Blinker states that “each Party recognises that an armed attack in the Pacific area on either of the Parties would be dangerous to its own peace and safety and declares that it would act to meet the common dangers in accordance with its constitutional processes”.
Mr Blinken has made the point previously, including during a conversation with the Philippine foreign minister on on April 8 in which the State Department said he "reaffirmed the applicability" of the treaty to the South China Sea.

The US Navy destroyer Benfold entered the waters without China's approval, seriously violating its sovereignty and undermining the stability of the South China Sea, the southern theatre command of the People's Liberation Army said.
A statement suggested the ship had consequently been “driven away”, adding: "We urge the United States to immediately stop such provocative actions.”
On July 12, 2016, the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague ruled that China had no historic title over the South China Sea, a ruling that Beijing said it would ignore.

The Benfold asserted navigational rights and freedoms in the vicinity of the Paracel Islands consistent with international law, the US Navy said in a statement.
The islands are claimed by China, Taiwan and Vietnam, which require either permission or advance notification before a military vessel passes through.
The US Navy statement added: "Under international law as reflected in the Law of the Sea Convention, the ships of all states, including their warships, enjoy the right of innocent passage through the territorial sea.

"By conducting this operation, the United States demonstrated that these waters are beyond what China can lawfully claim as its territorial sea, and that China's claimed straight baselines around the Paracel Islands are inconsistent with international law.”
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian told a regular briefing on Monday that the United States was harming peace and stability in the region.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, more than 100 activists gathered outside a building housing the Chinese consulate to press Beijing to respect the arbitral ruling and allow Filipinos to freely fish in the South China Sea.

Strategic Location is more at play here, but the point is why is that America is always ready to step in Wars which has nothing or little to do with them, they get into conflicts then when its people or soldiers die they say look they are killing our soldiers and people, why not avoid conflicts and save the lives of their own soldiers who get all sorts of PTSD's and ends up putting a bullet in their heads, there are many issues at home US can and should focus on, but hey not lets play Nuke War with China so they launch their Nukes and we launch ours and the world can go F Itself.

lol

no,

US has plenty of bases in the region it doesn't actually need Philippines .. they are just using them as an excuse to fight china.

Pakistan's Position was always known to US, do not go inside Afghanistan, Taliban were not the People who Attack US on 9/11 they just gave refugee to OBL, and they were even ready to hand him over to a neutral country because they did not trust America, now Pakistan will and can not use its Air power against the same people just a couple of years back they trained and hailed as Mujahdeens, the Public response against such Air Force used would be disasters, US was warned by Pakistan many times and they did not listen... America was enraged and rightly so but this is where I would expect a country which was and is super Power to think rationally and not like a Power drunk empire, you have to admit US thought that they could defeat Taliban, and not only for the sake of 9/11 but to show to the world that they are capable of doing something which USSR failed just few years back, and that thinking of arrogance cost America 20 years, thousands of dead soldiers and trillions of dollars. America can and could easily track OBL from using Pakistan or its Carrier group and take him out from a Drone, Air strike or a CM, USA has the technology, resources and everything to do just that, but they want to go inside Afghanistan and the world has witness the rest.

me?... a bean counter.... that once worked for a US defence contractor and did a stint in KAF and saw how first hand scrambling NATO jets and QRF teams in helo trying in vain to find 2 Taliban guys on a motor bike.. in response to them using less than $50 improvised timed rockets ..

cost to NATO a few million dollars... and they eventually threw in the towel.

yea... like I said an enemy fights on it's terms not yours.

Taking out Al-Qaeda, and of course bin Laden, was a short term goal. We wanted more. Al-Qaeda thrived in Afghanistan because Afghanistan was a failed state. The original thought and hope was if we 'nation build' Afghanistan, we would deny Al-Qaeda a safe haven. In hindsight, we were wrong. But that was a risk we were willing to take at that time. The bottom line is that we did more for Afghanistan in the past 20 yrs than all of the Muslim countries. Now the world will see Afghanistan regress to the 7th century. What a gem...

not sure where you do your research ... india may be?

last time PLA and US army fought they forced the US army to a stalemate in Korea...

I heard the same from friends stationed there.

My only concern is my tax dollars being used to give free money for next 30 years to PTSD scammers. I don’t believe in the stupid shit used by lazy individuals who can’t function outside the military and sit home and get drunk.

I don't think it is scam always. One of our company 4x4 was rammed by a wheeled US APC head on. upon talking to the soldier he was apparently in violent combat recently and he could not focus straight,

combat is very violent and can cause the mind to be very unsettled. ...for some soldiers it makes no difference.

also keep in mind they don't have a professional corps of soldiers (non officer) like Pakistan where being a soldier is for life, many of these soldiers that serve were just civilians a few months earlier .

It would be better if US achieved its short term goal via other means than putting boots on ground, as i said US enrage and anger is justified as I am still pissed at TTP for killing 140 kids in APS and I want nothing but death for these scums, but there were better ways to get what US wanted without losing trillions of dollars and more importantly human lives, No can build a nation bro specially a country like America can not build a nation which is still backwards/lack education and wanted Taliban rule, America may have done a lot for ANA and Northern Alliance but the common Afghan and poor Afghan's lives were destroyed and they got nothing out of this war except misery and pain, and yet they are still the bad guys... I will go as far as saying that if US played its card right, AQ would've been hunted by the Taliban themselves taking off their leaders one by one, because Taliban and AQ would be fighting within themselves sooner or later, the only they stood together because they have common enemy to fight for, aka Allied forces. Just see how Taliban will fight ISIS and TTP in Afghanistan, and just see how Pakistan's ISI will take out BLA commanders in Afghanistan using the same infighting. America's poor decision took many lives including Pakistani's, Americans, Afghanis, and turn the entire region into a war zone while everything that happen could/should've been avoided.
