…..Should we talk only on the “rescue side” of the tragedy or also “the politics” that wrapped this sad episode ?

• Now, when the unfortunate want to discuss this heart rending issues and wrongs behind these (these are not only codes, but abuse of power, greed, mafiosi etc.), you come up like ‘Buddha’ with lofty advice “ let us talk humanity (or rescue only) , not by politics’ (the perpetrators). Why ? Is it for the sake of ‘humanity’ or to conceal your / your fraternities crime and faults ? As a result of the failure to discuss the crime & criminals in politics behind the event and of the delayed actions, Garments workers are now destroying more & more assets since last 2 days---apprehending that BAL is trying to fool the people one more time --- by giving ‘fox-like’ sermon to silence the other issues. These could be saved if “punitive actions, and analyses of the faults and defaulters alike could proceed side by side with the ongoing rescue mission.

• There is no ‘life’ without ‘politics’, and there is no ‘politics’ outside ‘life’. But you silence the Islamist by saying “No politics in religion’---and now ‘No politics while rescue is on’. You want “politics” also only on your terms so that you can use it as a tool for your convenience----as a monopoly. But days now definitely are changed----people are more conscious and alert. So they know which events are fully wrapped with politics, but the wrong-doers want “no discussion’ just to hide the skeleton inside the wardrobe by deceptive nice talking.

The base line is, this building was allowed by the govt authorities to be built without a proper design and construction procedure. The construction materials were also sub-standard. The govt watchdog agency is responsible that quality control is absent in the cement factories.

No one could have foreseen the catastrophe to hit, and hit so hard. The garments owners make a commitment to the buyers about the quality as well as shipment schedule. If they do not keep their promise, they get no more orders. Even the importers may choose to reject any late shipments.

Western countries have four distinct seasons. It means certain types of apparels cannot be marketed after certain dates. For example, summer clothes have no value in the autumn. Importers are committed to supply their goods to the distributors and wholesalers at the committed times. The latter groups are also committed to the retail shops. This is why the garments factory Owners are in such a rush.

Many things are tied together, and it is not only greed for money. West is a different world away from BD, and BD garment Owners have learned the western culture hard way. This is why they are so strict with quality and schedule. I believe, only in order to maintain the schedule, the Owners had to force the workers to go inside. They had no alternative sites.

Mr. Rana, the bldg. Owner is the main culprit who committed a major sin by using low quality construction materials in the building.

May be they are contributing but we are seeing general people are more active . army is not using their heavy equipment so their contribution is visible . we should have bought some equipment for this kind of work but what we are seeing media is requesting for rod cutter portable oxygen etc what our disaster management ministry is doing ? we are seeing its army who is in co ordination of army is always on top then what the necessary of a separate ministry for it ?

I'd say media is actually hampering the rescue operation by delaying busy people (both the injured and rescuers) in the name of taking interviews. Frequently they are obstructing routes of supply and rescue personnels and stressing the already stressed critically injured and sometimes even of entangled dying people by taking their interviews. Media people should have been barred from taking interviews of victims and rescue workers.

While rescue works proceeds unabated, the task of analyzing the crime and identifying the criminals / perpetrators have to be done simultaneously without delay. Otherwise you will face the below situations:

2. Workers are on street with the determination that they will continue till he is caught The destruction of assets, closures of factories and suicidal work-stoppages will continue.
3. There will be perpetual occurrences of similar crime. “ No proper action” in Spectrum and Tajreen cases emboldened others to repeat the crime in Rana.
4. This cover-up nepotism by ‘powerfuls’ for own fraternity----since the Army break-down on smugglers / black marketers at the time of right after independence---- is also an effective reason of proliferation of crimes even now. This abuse of power has to be resisted in every political and apolitical way.
5. Any society will become sick---sometimes as terminally as we are---if the process of immediate action is there.

If anyone tries to conceal the crime / criminals as shamelessly as dogs, there will sure some fight----even dog fights. Now if they do not cooperate to do this exercise together ---as similarly to joint rescue endeavor---and they “advise” others to keep silence in the name of 'not to do politics’----actually not to get further exposed, and to divert the attention of ‘short-memory’ people to elsewhere, you know why these sweet slogans. So, you mean there were two ways open to the workers...work and if it collapses, die. I believe there must be clause that if such situation arises, delivery date can be considered. Whatever, if there's no such clause, as I said in a previous post we have to stop this blood sucking economy.

Rana, isn't the only culprit, all other garments owners who forced workers to go inside and work are equally culprits.
