What's new

Raghuram Rajan is out

. .
60%+30%+30%= 100% ... according to newly appointed NISFT chairman..

Funny part. I'm not entirely certain the said person is actually aware of this from a mathematical perspective, but 60%+30%+30% actually is ~100%.

However on topic, let there be no doubt, such actions, if initiated under duress/influence of any certain individual would be an affront to the independence of the RBI. I will not make a direct comment as no official note has been released declaring the same, but under no circumstance can anyone with libertarian values condone such politicking over such an important institution.

.
This is a bad bad day for India. Sadly the BJP crack heads have done for the most able RBI head. The next head will bend his knee and kiss the ground of BJP apparatchics for short term-ism and wound Indias long term trajectory

.
What the hell is going on with this govt.??
Why Rajan should go? If anyone it should be Arun Jaitly who should be sacked because he's been of no good use as the Finance Minister for the past 2 years.

Rajan is well deserved person in that seat... Many institutions will give red carpet welcome.. if he wanted
in a country of one billion plus people we surely have talent as good or better than rajan.. thats not the point.
once you appoint somebody to that position, you respect the institution.. if you dont want to extend his tenure, at least do it quietly... the whole campaign to vilify the guy has hurt the institution of RBI.. Mr Rajan will be alright and will have nice career after this, no doubt.

So you are against the change ?

I wonder whether you guys shift to upper gears while driving your car OR remain stuck to lower gears which were needed for initial thrust.

Complain only when there is something wrong with the next appointment.:pleasantry:

He WAS the change, he WAS the "upper gear".

He did wonders for our economy and for having opinions had his name dragged in the mud.

That is the beauty of a debating forum

How many out there would agree with you calling him the "upper gear"

These changes can only be compared when new appointee resumes office.

Why is Rajan being hyped as some sort of godly figure?

But he is really a worthy figure of being an RBI head. I hope BJP and especially Modi manages him to stay on. According to many sources Modi and Rajan have excellent rapport and even meeting him in secret without press eyes.

This is not the end of road yet.

Rajan did an excellent job during tough times by increasing foreign reserves....and refraining from lower interest rates....and controlling the inflation...but falling oil prices was a big plus point for him!!
But now is the right time lowering the interest rates!!
Which the govt feels too....he didn't listen....his term is over....he has to go!!

No problem for him... but dragging a institution head into mud... isn't that nasty... these heads are independent from politics... we can find many.... but this susu wants obedient BJP bhakt... on one side, we are hoping for reverse brain drain... other side, politicians like susu dragging them into mud and insulting...
