Quaid’s monument to be demolished in Peshawar

I'm not Okay with it brother, the news just got integrated with the one I wanted to post. We shall create another thread and discuss the Kalabaqh dam there but to answer your query which is totally my personal point of view; I don't know how Kalabagh will drown Peshawar which is miles and miles away from it... it will not drown Nowshera either but will affect the land for ill-cultivation... basically the Dam will be built in KPK, the blockage of water will affect Sindh's lands but in return it will reduce the electricity shortage phenomenally throughout the country.

I just posted the news brother, Dunya news is too a trustworthy source just like any other news outlet in Pakistan... if that was the case, ANP would literally sue them for such notorious lie... BTW, do get in interaction with a hardcore ANPer and you'll know what kind of venom they spew about Pakistan's ideology and Punjab in specific (I agree with them upto some extent over the notion of Punjab though).. One of my neighbour considers Bacha Khan to be better than Prophet Muhammad SAWW... their leaders namely Haji Adeel considers Raja Dahir, Bagath Singh etc as their heroes instead of Muhammad Qasim and Salahuddin Ayubi. Now go figure brother...
@AstanoshKhan, Zama wror, I am forced to laugh a little... who are you preaching to? lol. Monkey d' Luffy's other side is very "enlightening"... spewing venom about Pakistan's ideology? Hmmm... Luffy doesn't seem to enjoy Pakistan-bashing and racism against other races here and backgrounds here. Its only on the other forums we see that side of him where he can get the backing of a number of racist Afghans. Here he is like a shy little kid who hides behind his mother the moment someone challenges him too much.

The problem with both ANP and MQM is in many respects one and the same and they both operate on ethnic hatred. Frankly Pashtuns are much more enlightened than Muhajirs and have a brain of their own noting some exceptions in the case of some people here ;) Of course not all ANP supporters are like this but there is a kind of separative tendency amongst some which has made me wary of the party. Even a Yousafzai nationalist friend says stay away from those guys... love for great Pashtun race that produced lions like Ghaznavi and Ahmed Shah Abdali is one thing and supporting ANP another.

The issue is these parties can only exacerbate ethnic tensions. For example (Luffy made this statement too) historically Asfandyar Wali's grandfathers opposition makes him quite biased towards those who once sided with the Muslim League even though they were in their own way Pashtun heroes. I mean history proves that the formation of Pakistan was absolutely right! Now never is Abdur Rab Nishtar or Abdul Qayyum Khan even mentioned in their speeches. Instead basically they advocate their links with Afghanistan as if Afghans (from bar side-meaning Afghans in National sense) have a very positive attitude to Pakistan or even lar Pashtuns who are called traitors, dal-khor and Punjabi lovers. Luffy can confirm this bias if he has honor because he claimed this to be a truth before his sudden discovery of my ancestry actually turned him into a hulk (this hulk gets angry when he sees non-pashtuns or weak Pashtuns)... but the question is that is Wali the sole representative of Pashtuns (same goes for Altaf)? Then the other question is given his background would he ever talk about the sacrifice of Pashtun Muslim League members for Pakistan?

Similarly in an MQM speech have you ever heard a single word for people like Jinnah, Allama Iqbal (they weren't Muhajirs but MQM people are chauvinistic and will cite his Gujrati home to call him Muhajir) or the other founders of Pakistan? The point is simple. It is in their interests to keep the ethnic war going, for the ethnic divide to actually be widened because it is what gives these people votes.

Pakistan is too ethnically polarized and we use it to call ourselves victims and insult and abuse others. Its the mindset man. Basically all we have is insults and abuse for the other race ensuring that we are unable to "gel" together. Frankly its one of the reasons I just rebelled against race against ethnicity. There is no reason to agree with the rubbish some self-proclaimed Pashtun Nationalists spew against Punjabis especially if as they claim they believe in Bacha Khan's message of peace and love.

Frankly I would like to see some protests about this ground being turned into what it is. Perhaps some assurances that another more beautified monument will be raised in its place instead of some ethnic rubbish. By far Pashtuns are the most patriotic people in Pakistan. This will not be ignored. Also do not take this as an attack... Pakhtunkhwa is the land of poets of Sufis like Sheikh Nisa baba, Abdul Shakoor Malang baba, Pir baba and Rehman baba... but such mazars *** the land of Pakhtunkhwa everywhere though admittedly I have to agree all of the above have been attacked by the Taliban. In any case my point is giving some place to Jinnah the founder of Pakistan shouldn't be an issue.

Personally I would say Pashtuns here need to leave Afghanistan and Muhajirs India. There is specially no justification for Altaf's speech on partition unless a person is an India lover. Similarly there is also no justification for "lar aw bar yaw Afghan" cry which ANP leaders sometimes make... especially when Afghans use this to claim lands that belong not to Pakistan, not to (as I was told "Ranjit Singhi") Punjabis, but by 200% pure Pakistani Pashtuns. But I can't say this with the bigotism prevailing...

We can beat racism here together, Astanosh if we avoid ethno-fascism. And I think you and Leader have what it takes. I would personally avoid Luffy though but he fits the bold part pretttttty well.

Upon first hearing this, little old me wrote a letter to the PA of Sardar Hussain Babak, needless to say, still no reply. However i do know on good authority, many are not happy about this proposed move.

With more provincial autonomy Punjab won't be a punching bag anymore. The best thing next govt. can do is to fasten the decentralization drive.

Jinnah worshiping? Shirk?

This coming from a chap who has an anime character for an avatar, if you are so pious just a quick FYI:
Mufti Ebrahim Desai on Cartoons: The factor which prohibits cartoons, movies and games on computer is not pictures in this case. Instead it falls under the category of Lahw and La’ib (useless forms of amusement).''

So therefore, if you are going to lecture all those Pakistanis who cherish the man who gave us our identity... Check yourself out first!

Sorry to poke my nose in your internal matter but I think we (Indian-Pakistanis) are too sensitive about less important issues like monuments and statues of our leaders than more important issues like development, beautification of the city. Even those great leaders would wanted a better nation more than their own statue.

Agree, but some things need to be protected. Even in countries like the US and UK, there are state laws protecting the sanctity of monuments of national importance. Besides, they could easily relocate this "regeneration" to Garrison Park or any one of the 9 public parks in Peshawar that need regeneration.

Chalo that is not acceptable then how about installing it at university of Peshawar? It has a massive campus and could easily accommodate such an installation.

@haviZsultan, that is a very thought provoking write up.

As traitor, indian agent , Sarhadi gandhi (in pakistan gandhi is considered evil, so title of sarhadi gandhi is used as "gaali"). And every other foul words are used against man of his stature.

I beg to disagree on the part of Sarhadi Gandhi... the tile to him was Awarded by All India Congress since one Gandhi was fighting the Brits in India while the other at the same time was fighting the Brits in NWFP (aka Sarhad), and that's why he won the title of Sarhadi Gandhi.

Bacha Khan was against the creation of Pakistan just like those religious parties. It was a referendum (on the spot) which took place near Bala Hisar Fort and the people wanted to be part of Pakistan instead going independent... and just because of that Bacha Khan didn't want to be buried among Pakistani Pakhtuns or in a Pakistani controlled land.

ANP is more inclined to India than they are to the Pakhtuns of Afghanistan.

@ haviZsultan.

Thanks for your awesome post.

I agree. This racial tension is ridiculous.

We are all Pakistanis.

Every one of us just wants what a basic human wants. Security, enlightenment, and happiness.

None of the guys on this forum chose their ethnicity or looks or even country.

As a Punjabi, I can say I am a Pashtun and a Pashtun is Punjabi.

We are all in this together.

If Zardari steals from me, he is stealing from a Pashtun in KPK as well.

I just want to say Pakistani Zindabad, and that too without sounding redundant, because when I say Pakistan, I mean every last one of us.

Agreed. These monuments are reflection of our respect to these leaders of past. Having said that, the preservation of their monument should also be followed by preservation of their ideology to construct a stable, prosperous state where there is no inequality, injustice and indifference.

We forget what they really wanted from our countries but at the same time we don't appreciate their sacrifices. Lets start with preserving monuments on them and also teach our coming generation what these leaders dreamed of.

Hope at least coming generation will be rational enough to see the importance of these monuments and the follow the dreams of these leaders.

So jinnah gave you identity? you were identity-less before 1947? that might be case with you people but we pashtuns were not identity-less before 1947 neither our struggle and wars against british have any thing to do with jinnah and co. You are so thankful to him for giving you identity that you now worship him? pathetic......there is no greater man than prophet mohammad p.b.u.h for us, he was the "qauid-e-azam" not jinnah.
By the way i am not a mullah , i am giving you reference from the religion which jinnah and co used as a tool to have separate country from hindus even though they themselves were irreligious ...
