Gas is easy to find in Pakistan. The government simply has no planning nor the vision for this.
And its too late to masquerade as a Environmental friendly country.

When we can announce CPEC projects to make as transparent moving forward than why can't we do the same regarding this LNG deal with Qatar. As of now, this is merely a request from Qatar govt, nothing more but this present Govt of Pakistan is not shying from making controversial deals open especially if mega corruption is connected with it.

Well any contract can be discussed openly in Pakistani constitution as we are a Republic

Qater's reservation may be in case we were given special discount rate which they do not want to make public as they offer higher rate to other countries

Some discretion can be made in that retrospect companies do like to keep certain data private

Every customer who buys gas / oil can negotiate their own special price

There was an article in Bloomberg in September, detailing how Pakistan will save $600 million over the course of 10 years and was all praise for PMLN government - they used an average price of $60 for Brent oil (LNG ~$8 per mmBtu) although it was much lower ($ 39) in December, 2015 at the signing of contact, today this Brent is $84 (LNG ~$11.2 per mmBtu). Since we are supposed to import 3.75 million tonnes of LNG annually (per contract), QatarGas II walked with over $45 million in just a month. The contracted price for the deal is 13.37% of averaged Brent price forecast for next 3 months. The price is non-negotiable for 10 years. Qatar did us no favors.

I was hoping to learn one or two things from him.

There must be a reason why PTI agreed to not disclose this deal. Maybe those 100k work visas resulted in pursuance, couple with LNG queen's (ExxonMobile LNG chair) not so subtle overtures.
I believe these things should be done transparently but far away from public view. We can't blame Qatar for our own folly. They were merely conducting business and pursed a deal that best suited them - we forgot to do the same for ourselves.
