Qatar to buy 22 French military helicopters (update)

Qatar will buy 22 NH90 military helicopters from European aerospace group Airbus worth nearly two billion euros ($2.8 billion), the French defense ministry said Thursday.

It said 12 of these would be transport helicopters and the other 10 would be the frigate version. Qatar will also acquire two Airbus-made refueling tankers.

The decision was conveyed to French Defence Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian by Qatari officials.
Last week, Le Drian had taken his Qatari counterpart General Khaled Al Attiyah to Brest in northwestern France to show him the NH90 chopper.

Le Drian is currently in the Qatar capital for the Doha International Maritime Defense Exhibition.
The NH90 was developed in response to NATO requirements for a battlefield helicopter that was also capable of being operational at sea.

It can fly at nearly 300 km/h (186m/h) and deliveries have been made already to Australia, Germany, Finland, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Oman, Sweden and Greece.

The Airbus A330 Multi Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) is an aerial refueling tanker aircraft based on the civilian Airbus A330. Orders have been placed by Australia, Britain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.

Do you understand/know (I believe so) the difference between unconfirmed rumors and events actually having taken place (Israeli prime ministers and foreign ministers visiting Qatar officially and them meeting - caught on tape) that we moreover have on tape as well as leading Zionists openly talking about visits to Qatar?

Intelligence gatherings occur between all countries. Even South Korea and North Korea have dealings of this type. Pakistan and Israel have too. Iran and Israel too. India and Pakistan too etc.

Qatar already had disputes with all GCC member states with the exception of always neutral Oman in 2014. In fact what occurred in 2014 and the lack of Qatari changes (in the views of the GCC, Egypt and others) led to the events last year.

Still does not excuse the absurd spending by Qatar of late. They won't even have enough pilots (domestic ones). It's quite frankly a joke and people (experts and observers alike) are rightly questioning such buys when they are feeling the heat economically.

KSA and Egypt cannot be compared with tiny Qatar here on any front other than Qatar being filthy wealthy for its size. Much more than KSA per capita at least.
