Is this Army tank a Type 69 II-G or a Type 59D ? / Were the tile-shaped armour pieces in turret area there from the beginning or added later?

It's probably outdated regardless of designation.

Its not outdated. Added during or after the modification process.

Cheers!!!

It is still questionable - 120 mm main gun for a type 69 is appropriate or not... This kind of modification is only seen in Pakistan and Bangladesh now .Don't know about their combat ability... Iraq 1st tried to do so but failed.. The recoil of the gun damaged tank.. The recoil of the gun damaged tank.

Rebuilt Bangladeshi Type 69/79 MBTs are fitted with 120mm smoothbore gun, modern combat electronics, heavy ERA package as well as a powerful new Ukrainian 1,200hp engine. To date its the most advanced version of the Type 59/69 MBTs and an estimated 300 such tanks exist today. It has the ability to fire especially developed Ukranian 120mm ATGMs from its barrel too with the help of its new fire control system.

Well here is little battle history of Type 69 - According to battle reports from the 2003 invasion of Iraq, Type 69-QMs were used by the Iraqi Army units defending Nasiriyah in March 2003, most of them being employed as artillery pillboxes. They were key players in the ambushes which decimated the US Army 507th Maintenance Company and Charlie Company of the 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines, before AH-1 Cobra helicopters wiped out the Iraqi tanks. Two Type 69s destroyed at least four vehicles of the 507th, among them a heavy truck rammed by one of the tanks. There is also a first hand account of about four Type-69s hidden behind some buildings, pounding the Marines' Charlie Company with indirect fire and likely disabling several AAVs Some combat useless Type 59/69s were emplaced as decoys or mere obstacles.

and info on Bangladeshi Type 59G which is better than Al zarrar according to sources..

“Type 59G Main Battle Tank”. It incorporates a number of revolutionary improvements including a much up gunned 125mm smoothbore main gun with 42 rounds, which is capable of firing APFSDS, HEAT-FS, HE-FS, barrel- launched anti-tank guided missiles, and Depleted Uranium (DU) shells. The main gun can be reloaded by a semi- automatic autoloader and is equipped with a dual-axis stabilisation system allowing 6~8 rounds to be fired per minute. The new generation European thermal imaging sights (TIS) provides Type 59G with clear vision to commander and gunner during any adverse conditions. The integrated fire control system on the Type 59G is equipped with a built- in laser range finder and ballistics computer, which is able to feed precise range information to improve accuracy of the main gun. A meteorological sensor connected to the fire control system is also mounted on the roof. One remote-operated 12.7mm machine gun with 500 rounds is mounted on the roof for air defence purposes. A 7.62mm machine gun mounted coaxially with the 125mm smoothbore gun is also fitted. It is provided with 2,500 rounds of ammunition. In addition, six electrically operated grenade launchers are mounted on each side of the turret.

@eastbengal: Dude...Why do India and Burma will be aggressive towards BD? Each of these South Asian countries like India,Pak,BD(Including India too..) are such countires in case any other country become aggressive it will get bankrupt in feeding billions of population....So in this context...Why should India will attack BD? But of course ...it makes sense to build up each nations defence capability...but that should not be judged with a context that India and Burma will fight war with BD..

what is the preparation level of Bangladeshi armed forces to counter any foreign aggression both from Myanmar and india ..?

i guess - For myanmar bangladesh will fight conventional warfare normally using their navy, BAF interceptors, army face to face. . And for india - Guerilla warfare And ambush..... G0C of east pakistan Yahya in 1963 planned this first... He ordered major a o Mitha to build guerilla brigade.. But later this plan was cancelled when Yahya was transferred to West pakistan and Fazal muqim khan replaced him. I don't know about present condition. But i think bangladesh train her soldiers for guerilla warfare...
