lol stupid to copy the idea of having los vegas in indian punjab. Just having gambling, liquor, prostitution in a city don't make it Los vegas. Punjab has its own ways of life and simplicity. There are many villages in punjab without potable water and regular electricity and they are talking about los vegas. Next we will hear about De Wallen in punjab

if i am right brother punjab has higher per capita income than even kerala and is a prosperous state.
this will bring money to the state

I do understand when people think about Vegas they think about alcohol, gambling and Prostitution but remember prostitution is not legal in Vegas(in Clark county). It is legal in certain other areas of Nevada state.

As for the news, I would welcome it as it will contribute to the economic growth of the region anyone who want action(gambling or otherwise) will seek it through illegal means or go to places like Macau or Vegas.

Thats because there is a lot of corruption and poverty in Pakistan unfortunately. Stop acting as if this happening all the time.
Even uttering word related to "human reproduction" and you get stares from the public.

As for religious extremists, India has quite a bit of religious extremists.

I Fully Support Legalization of Homosexuality as well as Gay Marriages ... every 1 have there rights to lead there life by there own wish... if a Homosexual marry straight person under Family pressure then he also spoils the life of his partner... better he live his way & be happy with the results...

& legalizing such Issue also decreases Religious & Social intolerance as well as Taboo & Religious Extremism ...

If this proposal come true then it will just fill the pockets of few rich individuals and nothing else

and GDP of kerala is 326,693 crores while gdp of Punjab is 259,424 crores and GDP per capita of boht states is same..

Punjab's casino dream draws flak

Amritsar: Deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's proposal to set up Punjab's own Las Vegas near Ludhiana has evoked sharp criticism from several Sikh organizations including the ones based in the US.

Las Vegas, an American city, is famous for its casinos, hotels, bars and associated entertainment. Badal has proposed to set up casinos in Ludhiana.

American Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (AGPC) president JS Hoti told the TOI on Saturday that opening of casinos in Punjab was an anti- Sikh decision. "Gambling is prohibited in Sikh religion and Sukhbir should not go ahead with the proposal," he said. Sikh Rehat Maryda (Sikh code of conduct) published by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee requires that 'a Sikh shall not steal, form dubious associations or engage in gambling'.

Opposing the government's proposal to set up gambling dens in Punjab, coordinator AGPC, Pritpal Singh said that the committee will soon write to Akal Takht Jathedar and urge it to take notice of the move which is against the Sikh ethos and principles. He pointed out the Sikh Gurus had clearly stated that gambling was the worst habit that Sikhs should never take to. "This will also destroy Punjab's rich culture and would prompt people to make easy money by gambling," he said.

AGPC also plans to launch a worldwide movement among Sikh Diaspora if Badal goes ahead with introducing casino culture in Punjab. He said if the government went ahead with its plan in the name of generating revenue then they would oppose the move at every front and build international consensus against it among Sikhs. "The casino culture will create more ills and this is not acceptable to the Sikh society,''said Pritpal.
He said Punjab was already facing the menace of drug addiction. Instead of protecting youth from falling to the ill, the government has chosen to introduce more ills, he lamented.

Spokespersons of Sikh radical organization Dal Khalsa, Kanwarpal Singh said, "What else can we expect from a person who had showcased semi- nude dance before opening of Kabaddi matches last year?" eom
