Punjab govt decides to change Metro stations design

After the rain inundated several stations, the Punjab government has accorded approval to change the design of Metro Bus Stations.

Under the new design, shades of the bus stations will be extended to ward off rainwater from dripping in during rains.

As part of the plan, fences will also be erected on both sides of metro bus route from IJP Road to Secretariat Bus Station, said an official who had attended a special meeting held under the chair of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif regarding the re-designing of the bus stations. Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Pus Project Director Zahid Saeed, NESPAK MD Hanif Abbasi and others were present in the meeting.

Saeed told the meeting that the seepage from roofs of Metro Bus Stations has been overcome but change in its design was a must to prevent the rainwater from entering the stations in the future.

Nothing for shame. Some minor modifications in roof design will fix the issue.
Any way let the youthias cry. SS you keep on doing the good work.

Defects in design and modifications requires ADDITIONAL costs...Wonder if SS or NESPAK will pay for it? :whistle:

Very fact that it was faulty to start with and a project had been started WITHOUT THINKING of this faulty is shameful....I suspect 1-2 yrs down the road they will recommend change in design to add drainage or something! Lets wait for that...After all we still have time to cultivate waterborne diseases :pop:

It's a little too late to 'change the design' of already constructed metro stations. They can try and modify them now, but they should've thought of it beforehand. With the amount of money spent on this stuff, you'd think they'd hire better planners.

Anyway, deir aaye durust aaye.

Finally!!! I had some experience from RWP - ISB one and I think major blame goes to our nation, most people don't get out after traveling from sadar to secteriat, they are just there to enjoy the air conditioned buses also things get worse at the counter late at night and I have heard from someone who works there that it is cuz of counter people selling tickets away from the counter at high price also this project is giving a huge loss to government as ticket is very cheap and there is no profit, just loss.....hope authorities take notice and this service is used like it should be.....also guys you will have to wait in a long queue too many people in pindi.... also sadar got renovated nobody has posted anything about that yet and finally modification means more loss....corruption at its best :(

Hmm...isi liay kehte hain project say pehle proper studies ki jayen aur design study kia jaye.

Did you know, in the Dubai Metro design, the engineers proposed a first design, but after a while they found out that due to the design, it made a bucket like structure and the sand got caught up in it and over time it would result in increase in weight, or you'll have to clean it up again and again.

Please note, this was in no way visible to the commuting public or affected the normal public in any way.

They changed the design of the bridges before they were built.

That's why you need to conduct proper studies, not sham studies which are at the whim of the CM.

Anay waa cheezain bananay say yehi hota hai, maheenay baad maslay atay hain.

Also heard that within a couple of weeks, escalators in Sectt and a couple of other stations got bust.

I am pretty sure he isn't MD NESPAK

The only models that works in Pakistan for infrastructure, are the BOO or BOT. Unfortunately, due to the high percentage of kickbacks, most reputable firms don't want to get involved. Secondly, politicians have their own agenda!

Yaar maze ke baat hai our Metro design is Dubai's Metro train design, same station same flyovers....
