PTV wants to be visible in India again

Pakistani establishment is worried about the spread of "Indian Propaganda".

Not to be left behind in the media war, the GOP is pushing hard to make PTV visible to Indians, even if in diluted form.

However will it be commercially viable ? GOP can't waste money on PTV entering India just for propoganda sakes. After all any one with a decent dish can catch PTV anywhere in the world so why set up a JV.

Of course, people who want to watch PTV can easily do so by hook or crook.

The point is that they want to reach the masses.

So, do you agree that Indians and Pakistanis are the same?

I agree that all humans are the same. Are Indians, Pakistanis, Germans, Canadians etc human? If they are, then they must be the same.
Exactly. And Indians definitely didn't look at Muslim invaders "equally" when they were being conquered.
The peoples conquered by the Maurya or Prithvi Raj Chauhan may not have looked upon the invaders "equally" or with "kindness" either. Similarly, the various peoples conquered by the Muslims may not have looked upon them "equally" either.

Ok I think are getting confused here.

Tell me, when you look at a Chinese temple, a Greek temple and a Hindu temple, which three civilizations come to your mind?
I don't think "Indian Civilization" when I look at a Indus Valley ruin, or the Shalimar Gardens in Lahore (Mughal Era) or a Hindu temple. When I see a Hindu Temple, I see Hindu culture, just as I see Muslim culture in a mosque - not a civilization.

I think you are forcing the idea of a monolithic civilization on South Asia, when anyone can see that it has been home to multiple civilizations and cultures.
And what is the reason for this shared consciousness? Why should this consciousness exclude the people of India and Iraq?
Religion, similarities in culture, language, history etc.

Religion is not the overwhelming identifier (which explains why Iraq is not part of the equation), though some thinkers argue it is, and do advocate an "Ummah". Religion is an important part of the identity matrix however and that is why India is not part of that shared consciousness.

Wait, so Babur wasn't an invader?

He was the "natural" bringer of Islam to the lands of Pakistan, which is kinda strange because Islam was NOT foreign to Pakistan?

Did Hinduism (or Vedism or whatever) just spontaneously manifest itself in all of South Asia?

Even if it was completely indigenous, then the ideology was created in some place in South Asia, and it spread to the different peoples and nations of South Asia - so this ideology too was alien to very many people who did not create it and to whom it was brought - just as Islam was alien to the people it was initially brought to.

The problem I have with your argument is that you completely ignore the fact that "Hinduism/vedism" also had to be "spread" and accepted by people it was alien to in South Asia after it was created - it was just as foreign to them as Islam was.

And then you arbitrarily draw boundaries for this "Ancient India" to excuse this spread of "Alien/foreign Vedic ideology", and then denigrate another similar "alien ideology" as being "foreign", because it is outside your arbitrarily drawn borders.

The fact is that since it is not possible for "Vedism/Hindusim" to have simultaneously come into being all over South Asia, it was alien to people at one point in time and spread as a part of the "cultural social evolution" I mentioned - and a similar evolution occurred with the arrival of Islam. Hence my argument that either there is no foreign ideology, or they are all foreign - it just depends on how far back in history you go, and arbitrarily picking a time line to declare Islamic influences as "foreign" is disingenuous.

^^Do you realize how confused that sounds?

Dude, you are tying yourself up in knots.
Stealth - enough with the "confused" comments. Either explain why you disagree or don't say anything.

I wonder why PTV wants to enter India ? Indian Markets are already well developed thru private channels and whatever I have seen on PTV channels seem very mediocre.

Regards
It is a simple matter of economics. Any channel that airs in India is potentially an advertising cash cow. PTV will be a novelty item, at least for a while. People will have a fascination with what the state controlled Pakistani TV station airs and with that probability hordes of advertisers will follow suit. If this gamble works out, PTV will see its profits rise exponentially, and at the end of the day that is the bottom line for any business organization regardless of its origin.

I highly doubt this is some sort of a cause in the hopes of fairness to show the "Pakistani side of things." Nobody cares really, and if the channel starts airing anti-Indian propaganda it will promptly be shut down by public pressure which in turn would be a self defeating outcome.

IMO this is completely commercially motivated. I don't know if other Pakistani private channels are shown in India or not, but if they are, PTV wants to compete in order to garner more profits, and nobody can fault them for it; in fact, this will be a boon for Pakistan's media in general and the Indian authorities should really be open to giving them a fair shot just as they have done for numerous western media networks.

Maybe it will copy Fox News. Disguising propaganda as real news, and fly under the radar.

PM wants projection of country’s ‘true image’

ISLAMABAD: The information ministry has a key role in perception management and projecting the country’s true image, Prime Minister Imran Khan said during a briefing at the PM Office on Wednesday.

“Keeping up with the pace of a highly sophisticated world of information today, we must safeguard our society from a cultural onslaught that endangers our cultural values, norms and the social fabric,” observed the prime minister.

Information Secretary Sardar Ahmed Nawaz Sukhera gave a presentation regarding the functions of the ministry and its attached departments. The briefing dwelt at length on the affairs of state media broadcasters, including the Pakistan Television Corporation and the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation.

Prime Minister Imran Khan stressed the need for maintaining impartiality and ordered constitution of a board of directors comprising eminent, honest professionals to oversee administrative and financial affairs of these organisations.

The prime minister called for preparation of a plan for restructuring of PTV in order to transform the organisation from a loss-making entity to a viable body.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Electronic Regulatory Authority issued instructions to all satellite TV channels on Wednesday to review their entertainment and news content in accordance with the Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015.

The authority asked television channels not to dramatise news items based on crime, sexual abuse and accidents. Entertainment channels have been advised to uphold social, Islamic and ethical values of Pakistani society in their programmes.
