What's new

PTI's Azadi March 14th August 2014 l Updates and debate.

International issue? This is Pakistan's internal issue.
You realize where the protests are taking place now?

International community have started to react to the recent developments now.

Also about awaam. PML(N), PPP and MQM can bring such type of awam in equal numbers if not more. Being awaam doesn't mean you have a right to be an anarchist and a trouble maker.
They can gather people, but can they maintain them for days? Doubtful.

The crowd supporting Imran Khan and Dr. Qadri wants genuine change, it is highly motivated. Also, this is the crowd that have endured many obstacles to reach Islamabad. If PML(N) government haven't had conducted nation-wide crackdown of PTI and PAT supporters, you would have noticed much bigger crowd.

Anyways, important matter is that institutions should perform and not be compromised. Once this happens, people will notice the change and sense of fulfillment would prevail. Public awareness is growing with passage of time and many understand that PPPP, MQM and PML(N) are an undeclared official coalition of status-quo politics.

The predicament that IK as set will back fire for him too if his greed to be a PM is fulfilled somehow. After all it takes just 20k of gullible protesters to topple governments.
See above

Phr raha ho ga Islamabad ki roads par IK ki pic wali tshirt pehan kar. :D
Democracy doesn't means that Imran Khan have to rule.

On the contrary - if a system is not run to remove kinks, it never functions as desired. This has been the history of each and every successful country. Why should we be any different? What makes us so special that we deserve a defect-free system without going through the pain of evolving it?

This is the tragedy of all those jumping for joy right now. They do not 'get' it.

No one is asking for defect free system. All that is asked for is that the system should show responsiveness to peoples complaints rather than ridiculing them. Where in those successful countries was democracy ever like a family fiefdom with power centralised around family members? In most of such countries even the initial phase of democracy was free from such malise

Most Indians here is going to tell us: They probably loathe their politicians. The US Congress' approval rating was hovering around 20% a few years ago--may be still like that. Politicians are despised the world over. But people still realize the caliber of politicians they have reflect their respective social milieu. People work to weed out the worse ones. It is a slow process but it is still step in right direction most of the time.

Trying to make Pakistan--a country where 'politics' was even called a dirty word by the likes of Zia--a perfect place is asking too much at this point.

And even if we ignore the 'academic' nature of this debate we should be mindful of the fact that if we allow the mobocracy to win now then there is no end to that. We will be in perpetual cycles of elections and mobocracy with severe consequences for the economy.

I'd say let NS fall on his own sword in 2018 if he doesn't 'perform' by then. Pakistani people will not forgive him if he doesn't 'deliver' by then. And SAY NO TO MOBOCRACY of Imran Khan and TuQ!

I stand with @Chak Bamu on this one: You need to have democracy to work some years before you can blame them. In Pakistan's case, as we all know, Zardari's first govt. which handed power to another civilian govt in Pakistan's entire history.

I hope a sensible person like that is not egging on the mob behavior. Yes, we KNOW the flaws of the last election but we also know that the results were more or less correct. I also hope you understand if today NS falls due to the mob tactics then tomorrow it will be the turn of Imran Khan--except he would face MUCH LARGER crowds. I hope you also know how pathetic Imran's situation is that a chunk of his legislators are already thinking of defection--so early on after the 2013 elections. In past there were Lotacracy but it was never that easy--at least since the 80's--to have so many legislators ready to defect. And THAT should show you how bankrupt Imran Khan's leadership has been!

I wonder wat sort of a history that was where zero accountability has taken place despite wide scale corruption of the previous govt. I fail to see ppl of Pakistan as beneficiaries of this so called democratic transition.

Tomorrow is final Match.... Let hope crowd remain peaceful. They are very angry from Gullu league.
Hahaha love it.

Was watching IK speech the other day. He said 'Hum NS ka gareibaan pakar kar bahir nikalein gain PM house se' followed by 'ye eik pur aman muzhaira hai'. So funny all of this theatrics.

Are noora's more corrupt than Zardari?

Yes, its obvious. Zardaris and Bhutto were very rich even before coming to power. Nooras got extremely rich AFTER coming to power. Who is more corrupt? Is this corruption competition?

Demonstration is peaceful but if this illegal government remains stubborn, force will be used. Imran and Qadri had no plan to to Red Zone until government didn't respond and let it happen themselves.
