Some of you guys need to understand diplomacy. We look at the world with a myopic binary view, and that’s the downfall.
Few examples, post Cold War, we refused to engage Russia, with alliance with China, we refuse to engage Taiwan, with Kashmir issue, we refuse to engage India and the list goes on.
China and India don’t get along and have border skirmishes, but they have good trade relations. Same with India Russia US. Or Israel UAE, China Japan, China Philippines, China Vietnam, I can go on and on.
Coming back to the topic of absolutely not. The answer to if bases would be provided to US. Imran Khan was correct in answering that as that has been a cornerstone of his policy. Now does ‘absolutely not’ means, we won’t have trade relations with you or cater to your interests in Afghanistan or hound you out of Pakistan? No it does not. Please understand the difference.
Yes the RCO happened, and the US state department clerk words are embossed in the MoM. On IK side, he has made anti US statements and blurted out idiotic statements post Afghan withdrawal (Afghans breaking the shackles of slavery etc) but does that mean IK and US become eternal enemies? TF, NO. The US is a global power, and Pakistan needs to engage US. In the same token US needs to engage Pakistan. There are many avenues where both can benefit.
