Once again BTTA3 disclose the Black Eagle MALE UAV under wind tunnel test. I wonder whether we are going to see this UAV flying in January next year if they are still doing this wind tunnel test that is supposed to be already completed before even detail design is started.

So it is quite confirm based on latest official statement that the maiden flight will be in the first quarter of 2021, changing from previous plan to do it in January. Judging by the fact that they are still conducting wind tunnel test last month, I think it is quite clear that it will be delayed further and I think the drone will have its maiden flight somewhere in the first semester of next year inshaAllah.

Well, i had said at Indonesia military thread since the programme commence the only possible sources for weapon system is Turkey.

PT LEN Industry has said in its twitter account that it has completed HILS (Hardware In the Loops Simulation System) and Ground Control System (almost complete) and currently been developing FCS (Flight Control System) for Elang Hitam (Black Eagle) MALE UCAV. It will have both surveilance and attack capability if any thing goes smoothly inshaAllah.

Minister of Research and Technology / Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (Ristek / BRIN) Bambang PS Brodjonegoro said that the Medium Attitude Long Endurance (PUNA MALE) Nir-Crew aircraft can fly 24 hours and is equipped with weapons.

"Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, PUNA MALE Eagle Hitam, which was originally scheduled to fly for the first time in 2020, has been postponed to 2021. The plan, according to the Head of BPPT, is August 2021," said Bambang at the 2021 Research and Innovation National Coordination Meeting event, Wednesday (27/1/2021 ).

Bambang said August 2021 will be the beginning of Indonesia's ability to develop drone technology for military purposes or combat drones.

PUNA MALE Elang Hitam is one of the four national research and innovation superpriorities, in addition to the N219 Aircraft, Red and White Catalysts, and industrial salt.

Head of the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Hammam Riza said that PUNA MALE Elang Hitam is one of the eight focuses in developing Advanced Indonesia Building Technology. This year, the drone will be developed to the combatant level.

"Together with the PUNA MALE Elang Hitam Consortium, BPPT will continue development to the combatant level in accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in protecting Indonesian territory in the border area," he said as quoted in the BPPT statement, Monday (25/1/2021).

PAC Kamra should developed indigenous drone for sure to make the business sustainable and improve its design expertise. Other companies can also grow by developing and supplying the subsystem. I think the civilian ruler must take the lead on high tech program since some military general could possibly like to get kickback from foreign OEM rather than building military equipment in the country.
