Oh please!! I don't have to abide by the Pakistani standard of being a Muslim. I live in India, and I won't deny that there is no problem at all. Like your country we too have our own problems(ours are more tolerable, atleast my children can go to schools without fear of being massacred by the proponents of some ideology that my state created and nurtured for America.) But any problem Hindutawadi or whatever will not make me uproot my heritage and run with tails between legs to some other place. I am simply not such a hypocrite to do that and them claim some Arab-Persian-Turkish decent and say we have ruled for 1000 years like most of your countrymen do. I know the history of my family on Indian soil on which it had depended for sustenance which I won't give up at any cost.
But I can understand you are probably from some part of India before partition and the trauma of migration has left its mark down the generation. You have my sympathies but not support. But unlike you I at least don't need Pakistan for being a Muslim. To study subcontinental Muslim history you study India, with its center in Delhi, not some frontier province in Punjab. That's the true legacy of the years of Sultanate, Afghan and Mughal rule and you people have given it up out of fear and now try to patronize us. LOL
And just for the record, more Muslims live in India than Pakistan and if there were such fears as you say of Modi and what he does, then most of us according to your logic would have been forced to flee into Pakistan by now. If that was the case, you people would again have to migrate to make room for us, probably drown yourself in Arabian Sea or migrate to the countries you claim your lineage from. But I know for a fact even Afghanistan won't take you in!!
Its human nature to spend as much energy and time as required in propping up a narrative you have invested you very soul into.
The ones that can overcome this natural tendency make up the fringes.....the very best and the very worst of humanity.
Thankfully the very best has just been slightly higher overall through history to ensure we as a species have not been annihilated.
It is still however a looming predicament we face, one that harks from our primitive origins.
I have a real nasty feeling we will never outgrow it (inability of most to question an imprinted narrative), even thousands of years from now if we survive that far...that mentality will still be in the darkest recesses of our existence....no matter how much we may have convinced ourselves we have put it behind us.
But maybe we were never meant to outgrow it. Maybe its something so fundamental in our core psyche, some sort of cruel irony to temper our intelligence. A looming shadow always following us, laughing at us...waiting eternally....more silent and omnipresent than even death.
But I still dream we can do it.
Sometimes you must believe in a potential or real lie/impossibility,....simply because it is something worth believing in...like eternal true love, good always defeating evil and that we have an ultimate purpose. Some people identify all of this with a deity or supernatural force. I certainly am not one to judge them because of it.
This (that we will outgrow it and evolve beyond it) is one of those things for me.
When you see things from that perspective, the enemy finally can become a brother, no matter what he says or does.
@jamahir is one of the few that may truly understand what I am talking about here
