Boston PRWeb - Guide2Research, a leading research portal for computer science, has released the latest edition of their annual ranking for top scientists specializing in computer science. The ranking aims to introduce the leaders in the field of computer science to the academic community and provide more exposure to the contributions of these influential scientists.

Over 6,000 scientist profiles were analyzed in this year's Guide2Research ranking edition. Each position on the list was based on Google Scholar's H-index value. Only those with an H-index >= 40 were shortlisted for the report.

Guide2Research also applied a second verification process of manually assessing the scientists' publications on DBLP, making sure that they actually authored a significant number of publications related to computer science. Lastly, the awards and fellowships of each scientist were also taken into consideration.

"The recognition and acknowledgment of contributions made by leading scientists devoting tremendous efforts to disseminate their knowledge are pivotal to the advancement of science and prosperity in our world as a better place," noted Professor Imed Bouchrika, a computer scientist and the lead author of the Guide2Research report.

The detailed Guide2Research ranking for top computer scientists is available on the portal's website.

Below are the key findings deduced from the resulting top computer scientists ranking:

  • Experts from the United States still dominate the ranking with 616 U.S. computer scientists comprising 61.6% of the list.
  • Other countries that are prominent in the ranking are the United Kingdom with 55 scientists on the list, Germany with 38, Canada with 37, and Switzerland with 34.
  • Asia sees a significant increase as the total number of scientists from the continent climbs up to 55 scientists from just 37 in 2018.
  • There are also countries that saw a decrease in the number of leading experts. These are Germany (from 44 scientists in 2018 to 38 in 2020) and France (from 17 down to 14 scientists).
  • The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is hailed as the educational institution with the most number of leading computer science experts. Forty-four (4.4%) of the scientists on the list currently work at the MIT. Last year the leading research institution was Stanford University.
  • As for private companies, Google (17 scientists represented) and Microsoft (12 scientists represented) still lead the ranking.
  • The list's top 1% has an average H-index of 167.
The United States still dominates the ranking with 616 U.S. computer scientists included in the list. The top 1% is also composed mostly of U.S. scholars. Eight out of ten are from the United States and the other two are from Canada. The position of the United States as the leading country has not changed since 2018.

A separate Guide2Research U.S. ranking for top computer scientists is also available.

Following the USA is the United Kingdom, which is represented by 55 scientists. Germany is next with 38 scientists, while Canada has 37 scientists. Switzerland closely follows with 34 scientists.

Asia showed the most noticeable increase in the number of representing scientists. From just 37 in 2018, the continent now has 55 scientists ranked.

In Guide2Research's 2020 ranking, the MIT emerged as the institution with the most number of ranked scientists (44 in all). The position used to be held by Stanford University in 2019.

Meanwhile, Carnegie Mellon University is the only institution with more than one scholar in the top 1% of the ranking.

Out of the 14 institutions with the most number of scientists on the list, 14 are in the U.S and the other three are in Europe.

The ranking is led by Professor Anil Jain (pictured) of Michigan State University. He has been on top of the list for three consecutive editions. Known for his influential work in biometrics, Professor Jain has an H-index of 188.

Europe's top scientist is University of Oxford's Professor Andrew Zisserman who ranks 11 on the list.

Asian scientists are led by Professor Guanrong Chen of the University of Hong Kong, with a world ranking of 16 and H-index of 149.

Despite being american the indian brahmin state sees "jain" as their own - but it will never recognize the bahujans within its own territory and even questions their citizenship with nrc and caa. Indians must wake up - India is not their state.

It is well known Modi is baniya - ghanchi teli caste. It was added to BC list after mandal commission report by BJP. Mandal commission refused to identify them as OBC. Their members are well known to participate in anti-reservation movements.
President is a powerless fellow is well known. Why do you make such dishonest comments. 40% of indian full cabinet is brahmin. 80 percent of Indian corporate boardrooms are between brahmin and bania.

It is the pain of Indian people and i am just giving voice to it here. I can understand your discomfort and pain of having to hear it. After all its not a safe space like your forums for you.

Well, Azim Premji is not baniya. Kalam was not a Baniya, Homi Bhabha was not a Baniya, even the man who wrote our constitution in 47 was a Dalit.

You can live in your own la la land.
I cannot wake up a person "pretending" to sleep.

Dr. Jain is from IIT, Kanpur. He is very much like the Google CEO who is from IIT Kharagpur.
Indian System and Education is Producing such Gems.

. . . .
Yes. Jains are very good businessmen just like Parsis, Sindhis, Patels and Marwaris.

THey are not good businessmen. They are basically "middlemen" - they buy stuff from here and sell there for a margin. Because of clannish existence they have an advantage in raising initial capital. A businessman is different - he makes a product, does marketing and all that. These are traders.

You can live in your own la la land.

Am I living in lala land or you. YOu did not engage me in my points. But keep making side points. As I said before your entire lives is dedicated to trying to deceiving other and deceiving yourselves.
