Promo video of the Chinese Type 003 aircraft carrier released

If this lineup is actually built, then the PLAN will have 3 full carriers but also 3 light carriers; the type 076 LHA would be equivalent to the USS America LHA which can launch the F-35B. This could indicate China is developing a similar aircraft or at least the drone equivalent of a STOVL Fighter or Loyal wingman.

Also interesting will be the Type 054B; a possibly future acquisition by the PN

Furthermore, what has always been interesting to me is China doesn’t retire its oldest ships, even when building so many ships at full speed. Perhaps they have so many slots to fill with their expanding mission requirements and the older ships are well broken in, so why “rock the boat” if you pardon the pun.

IMHO, Construction is probably already underway on subsystems like the propulsion, but they are probably waiting to see how the Type 003 performs in sea trails to modify the design and then go into production on the Type 004.

Will the J-35 be deployed on the two older carriers? It could make sense even more as the space is limited on those two carriers and it would be a good way to test for modifications to determine what is required of a fighter for the Type 076 LHA (even if the Type 076 will have an emals, the design will need to have enough space for deck landings by light stealth aircraft; manned or unmanned)

China’s Type 076 Medium Carrier (LHA) is equipped with EMALS Catapult, different with unequipped american lha.

So I think China would not develop Stovl (high maintenance cost & inefficient), because with EMALS onboard Type 076. They can launch J-35 Stealth Fighter together with An-Jian Loyal Wingman Drone

1 J-35?

Also has the integrated mast as seen on the Type 076, next gen frigate, and Type 071 become official?

Any estimate of the tonnage of the Type 076? It looks to be more than in the 40-50,000 ton range; nearly as large as the Shandong.

1x6 = 6 Unit J-35

Type 076 LHA (Medium Carrier) estimated to be 50,000-60,000 Tonnes.

PLANS Shandong (CVBG-17) still larger with 67,500 Tonnes

Pretty nice CGI of Type 003 Super Carrier (CVBG-18) :pop:

There is estimation from an analyst, Type 003 AC will be launch in the end of June

Now that the type 003 is about to be launched in a few weeks, any indication the PLAN may be making its own “Top Gun” style movie or is that probably a few years away, once the carrier is more operational?

It's a lot nicer looking than those hideous American AC's. Americans have really bad aesthetics and personal tastes. Their F-35 looks butt ugly. Sight of their ships make me wanna vomit. And their AC's look crude and unrefined...
Also the mass produced US ships such as the Ticonderoga class of cruisers and the Arleigh Burke class destroyers are outright ugly, probably the ugliest design looks in the world.

That is not a good sign -- for the PLAN. If merely the sight of our ships make you guys blow chunks, how can you respond when our ships actually fight?

China's manufacturing capability is incomparable to any nation in history, when US makes a jet carrier,it's basically the combined effort of manufacturing capabilities and technologies of all of the western vassals and japanese /korean industries.
Only China is the nation that can substitute every step and possess the whole chain of manufacturing.
If the alliance faltered US wouldn't be even able to live to fight war for couple of days.Hence US resorts to subverting nations and creating states little more than vassal that would adhere to each of Washington's whim, this is a very weak state ,United States, how long can they run with such cheap tricks?

Let’s not take it there the US if it needs to can produce any ship or air craft in-house it has the manufacturing base if US wakes up. Every company from big to small (trucking companies even) could be mobilized for war efforts and many of our companies have a plan in place if they need to produce arms etc.

I think China should retire all 022, 056 and 053 and replace them with unmanned combat ships.
056 isn't a small, expendable boat with simple duties, it has VDS active sonar, towed sonar and helicopters that contribute significantly to ASW and oceanography. It'll be like turning air defense destroyers into unmanned ships. They're also mostly brand new.

But yes on 022 and 053.

Stealthy 022 are relatively new and lethal for near coastal waters sea battles against fleet of enemy ships. Lackluster 056 are indeed being transferred to the Coast Guard now. The new large number specialized submarine hunting 056A are still needed to patrol and guard the many ports, bases and coastal waters of China especially against enemy submarines as many old submarine chasers have retired. 053 due times are coming and can be retired sometime down the line, or transferred to Coast Guard or sold to some other countries. China doesn't have infinite resources and we shouldn't waste the resources we already have by retiring the ships earlier than anticipated. Unmanned combat ships are definitely important facets of future Chinese Navy especially in the near sea waters.
