Prime Minister Imran Khan: Pakistan in final phase to be like Riyasat-e-Madina

PTI Foundation Day: Pakistan in final phase to be like Riyasat-e-Madina

ISLAMABAD: While referring to the foundation day of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Prime Minister Imran Khan Thursday said now they had entered the final phase; to build Pakistan on the principles of Riyasat-e-Madina -- a society based on justice, compassion and dignity of human beings.

In a series of tweets to mark the day, the prime minister wrote, “It took 15 years in the political wilderness before my message penetrated amongst the masses; it took another seven years to convert our movement into a party capable of fighting elections”.

He wrote in his twitter account, “Today is PTI’s 23rd anniversary. Our struggle has been the greatest of any party since independence and gone through three phases: 1st phase was mobilising people on our message for change; to fight corrupt status quo and make people aware that a nation only progresses by developing its human resources”.

Agreed. I think IK is hinting at a new system of government. If I have to take a guess, he will go for a Presidential System. The way he will achieve it constitutionally is to organised a Referendum. Ordinary people are really sick and tired of the current system, so there is a a huge chance that they will go for the Presidential system.

There will still be assemblies, but they will be there mainly for legislation. More like the Russian system where the President runs the show including appointing the PM.

Keeping in view the present strength of PTI and its allies, viz-a-viz its opponents, in the parliament as well as in public, there is no constitutional way to change the existing system; unless, at least, PML (N) and PPP come along. Why would they?

Constitutionally impossible.....

As 95% Pakistani have favorable trend towards turkey president Erdogan.
So I am quoting Erdogan
"You can't apply the practices applied 15 centuries ago today"

Can’t we just s/elect Erdogan? He’s got a higher approval rating than Imran Khan - plus majority of Pakistanis love him :)

As per the Constitution:
If at any time the Prime Minister considers it necessary to obtain a vote of confidence of the people of Pakistan through a referendum, he may advise the President to cause matter to be referred to a referendum in accordance with law made by Parliament. The President shall call upon the Referendum Commission to conduct a referendum amongst the persons whose names appear on the electoral rolls for the immediately preceding general elections to the National Assembly as revised up-to-date.

The current provision of the Constitution is: "If at any time the Prime Minister considers it necessary to hold a referendum on any matter of national importance, he may refer the matter to a joint sitting of the Majlis-e-Shoora (Parliament) and if it is approved in a joint sitting, the Prime Minister may cause such matter to be referred to a referendum in the form of a question that is capable of being answered by either "Yes" or "No"."

But once you have received the result of referendum, on any issue; it doesn't automatically change the Constitution. The Constitution would need to be changed in accordance with its applicable provisions. My comment was in this perspective.

You're so right.

I was that gullible person and i voted for PTI.

But after Shobaz was made PAC chairman, i realised tabdeeli has died and laid to rest in a grave.

The rest was a shit show of PTI exposing itself.

Sad to see Pakistanis still believe in a person who has broken his every promise, taken a Uturn on every principle, included the cabinet of Zardari.

Stupid people think Imran Khan will micromanage Zardari cabinet and make them work honest.

The realization will slowly set in for many like you, but, at this stage, there is no viable alternative left by design, and hence we all must wait for the next engineered change when it is brought about. Then the cycle will repeat.

Constitutionally impossible.....

When has that ever been a bar to stop the angels?

General Zia was "elected" President by such a referendum. The question was similar to "if you want Islam enforced in Pakistan then General Zia should be President". Genius! :D
