I think it explains why many Pakistani Muslims suffer from so many disabilities and diseases.
.

Here i guess you are suffering with some disease

cousin marriages not only exist in Pakistani society but it exist in all Muslim countries including indonesia, malaysia, middle east, Africa etc

i don't see any disease and disabilities. Its exist in your mind because you are follower of Christianity and its not common practice among Christians

Charles Darwin and his wife Emma were first cousins lol

what is this Karachite

Cousins are not included in the lists of prohibited relatives provided in the Bible, specifically in the books of Leviticus and Deuteronomy.[5] The Old Testament also contains several examples of married cousins. Two of the most famous are prominent in Genesis. Isaac was married to Rebekah, his first cousin once removed (Genesis 24:12–15). Also, Rachel and Leah were both cousins of Isaac's son Jacob. Jacob loved Rachel and worked seven years for her father Laban in return for permission to marry (Genesis 28–29). Both marriages were arranged over significant distances, with the eligible women nearby implied to be displeasing to the groom's parents (Genesis 24:3, 28:1). Jacob's brother Esau also married his cousin Mahalath, daughter of Ishmael

Guys stick to original topic and please dont bring religion into it. Else this discussion will degenerate into frantic search for random quotation from your favourite books.

I guess the article is about rise in incest in teenage boys/girls in India and pakistan.

I suggest you read The Malay Dilemma by Dr.Mahathir Mohamad (former Malaysia PM), he explains the reasons for Malaysians being backwards. Due to cousin marriages Malays have a very limited genetic pool. In the same wikipedia link you provided it says British Pakistanis who marry their cousins, their children are 13 times more likely than the general population to produce children with genetic disorders, and one in ten children of first-cousin marriages in Birmingham either dies in infancy or develops a serious disability.

I don't care what Christianity or any other religion says. I'm not looking at this from a religious perspective. I am not a religious person so you don't need to talk about Christianity as I hardly follow it.

Actually i dont need to read anything when there are practical examples in real life in front of my eyes and they are living a very healthy and peaceful lives. My grand father and grand mother were first cousin. my mother and father were also first cousin and there are plenty of examples in my family and friends circle who married with their cousins and i dont see a single case of any genetic disorder or any disease because of these cousin marriages so why i should believe in any malay doctor lol

Forgot to mentioned the genetic disorder of Albert Einstein and Charles Darwin who married their first cousins :P

Just because you did not see any genetic disorders in your family does not mean it does not exist lol. As for Mahathir Mohamad, he isn't just some doctor he was probably the greatest leader in Malaysia's history so you can't just discredit him like that.

I can see your mental disorder here but who you are to say what people can and can't do? you should care about yourself and don't need to be sleepless even if someone get genetic disorder like Darwin and Einstein because of cousin marriages :P

and read my reply in first page before talking about Malay Doctor

Actually it seems like you are losing your sleep since you are resorting to personal insults. I'm trying to discuss this in a civil manner. All the reports and research about the genetic disorders due to cousin marriages are there in front of you. If you are going to deny that then there is no use arguing with you since you can only stay in denial.
A few normal cases from inbreeding does not mean it is safe and completely ok.

One can't just point finger at a specific religion, these kind of this have happened and/or still happen in most of the religions. Personally I consider it as a taboo, not to offend anyone I think its just sick that people within a family would even think of marriage within a family, doesn't matter if its a sister or a cousin.

I just said its none of your business to dictate others how they should live their life. I never insulted you for not doing cousin marriages . when i talked about your mental disorder, i was referring to your stupid comment "Just because you did not see any genetic disorders in your family does not mean it does not exist lol"

some rare worst scenario don't mean it is not safe and OK. Read with open eyes what i said before

"I have problem with cousin marriage only If there is a genetic (inherited) disease running in a family then if two members of that family marry, there's a slightly increased risk of the child having that disease. If the next generation of the family inter-marries as well, then the risk gets higher. So eventually people may have noticed that children of these closely related couples were more likely to be sickly. But that happen because of repeated generations of the same family kept on inter-marrying, narrowing the gene pool over generations"

I dont find any other scientific reasons for not allowing cousin marriages

for am all cousins directly related to me through father and mother are fraternal,i dont mind dating someone who is from the otehr lineage.Like say my phoopha/maasi/Taayi ,girls of their original families are fair game.

PS: There have been many cousin marriages in my mom's side, where my uncles have married first cousins but due to this genetic disease thing,i made it a policy of not dating any of my blood cousins. There are so many girls man even second cousin uncle's daughters, all beautiful and graceful and nice. But no means no.

I think it is a cultural practice, and instead of finger pointing, we should spread the awareness about the danger of marriage between close relatives.
Once we get to know that something is causing diseases, we should avoid it( just like some disease causing food we avoid now a days).
There is no need to make it a moral issue, implying those who marry within their family are morally inferior.

I hope people will stop being defensive about it too. So no more "my grandfather smoked all his life but he lived till 90" or similar stories.
