This is a thread about the apparent rightward shift of NDTV. We all know that NDTV is one of the most congress leaning channels. It was charecterised by series of "Blow to Modi" reports. From 2002 it has led a failed campaign against Narendra Modi. It's anchors like Barkha Dutt are very well known about there Pro Pakistan Pro Seperatists line

However from the last few weeks I have noticed a slight rightward tilt in NDTV. Please note I am not saying they have become completely rightwing but are slowly turning this way

The enforcement directorate gave notice to NDTV regarding flouting of foreign exchange regulations

It is well known that NDTV has the lowest TRP ratings. The public does not trust them.

All this pressure seems to be getting on NDTV

It withdrew its petition against the Sagarmala project

Two days back it has said that it will not air any political remarks which threaten National Security

As part of this they didnt air one Interview with P. Chidambaram

Is this the beginning of a rightward shift of NDTV?

It's nothing but drama by NDTV, they don't care about TRPs or national security.

.
Neither.....Chidambaram would have come out as a buffoon, prompting them to do this. NDTV abhors nationalism and is not dependent on ad revenue.

The shift is temporary,NDTV doesn't have the courage to swim against the tide. The tide of patriotism in this case. :P

I did not see the third option and you have not given an option to change vote. :(

If BD and her crew really put nation before their greed then she would not have gone to the border to take interviews when there were strict instructions to not do so>>>>

There has been quite a change in CNN IBN attitude too. I almost find no difference between Times Now and CNN IBN. Also , as @Soumitra observed there has been a change in NDTV too. I guess it has to do with heightened tensions with Pakistan and change in public mood. However, once things calm down NDTV will revert back to original theme .

Baap bada na bhaiya sabse bada rupaiya. Right now Nationalism is the new flavour which will give them the TRPs so they are doing these things. But it is not there natural state and they will soon revert back to what they really are

I don't know about this. I still love Pallav Bagla reports and couple of other programs. They are still better than ABP news, India TV etc, which imho is Cartoon network masquerading as news channels.

But yes, it is quite visible that the channel has some issues with BJP/RSS/right wing politics and i believe this is what makes us look that channel supports Congress.

Personally i desperately want channels to simply report news and may be carry out impartial analysis of the same, for this is how i grew about in 80s listening to news. Unfortunately other than DD, no Indian channel at the moment simply conveys news. They convey their own view and want listener to believe it, endorse it.
I don't know if that is correct line as far as ethical standards for media and print industry is concerned.

.
its nothing but what we call as "topee drama" or smoke screen i know this barkha and her gang they are hard core pimps and could sell anything and anyone no matter whats the realation if the price is right

NDTV is a illegal heir of the Anti National Congress.
falling TRPs.

Is this the beginning of a rightward shift of NDTV?

1- It is one of the LEAST VIEWED channels in the country.

2- Burkha Dutt is the most hated journalist in the country (after probably Suzanna Arundhati Roy, though not a journo).

3- It caters to only English speakers; majority of India prefers vernacular languages.

4- Falsely attempting to implicate the Prime Minister during his CM days, especially after 6 SIT meetings and 12 years of multiple court cases cleared, have ruined NDTV's reputation.

5- Teesta Setalvad's affiliation with the channel and her scams discovered in the name of 2002 have further destroyed their reputation.

6- During 2014 elections, the reporting style of NDTV and its political affiliates like ABP, AAJ TAK, CNN-IBN, IBN-7 etc committed a harakiri when they targeted the then-PM-candidate in unison.

______

NDTV and most other anti-national channels (Leftism internationally isn't always being anti-national) are suffering from serious losses.

Nope, NDTV will never change its colors. Why exactly is it?

Well I will tell you about my interaction with a very senior news anchor. I asked him why exactly is NDTV against Modi govt. he replied its all about money. I asked him again that after 2 years in Opposition how can congress still fund that channel to keep the propaganda running? Well thats the time he told me two things.

First its just some 30+% of India that voted for Modi which means around 70% didnt, now in electoral politics thats enough to get you majority in Lokshabha but in reality when you multiply it with numbers of viewers its a big number. So almost every Modi haters favorite channel becomes NDTV, help them gain some loyal audience, which they keep feeding by inviting 5 star activists and JNU retards.

Now my next question was why is that we see those JNU retards (or so called intellectuals) only on NDTV? Well here comes the origin of the NDTV and very founding principle of NDTV.

You see its the family business to keep a particular kind of agenda running. They will never change. If they are putting nation first type of headlines than rest assured its to get some kind of deal from the govt. They are not exactly anti national but nation is way behind in the list of priorities for them.

In first past the post multi party democracy you cant say that you have 30% vote share you cant get majority. BJP got 282 seats with their vote share and what did the largest opposition party get - a paltry 44

Also if 70% of the anti BJP voters watch them then why is their TRP the lowest in English news channel and the TRP of Times Now a pro BJP channel the highest?

That's not really correct. the NDA fought as an unit & garnered about 39% of the votes. Parties like AIADMK, TRS, YSR Congress etc are not exactly anti-BJP parties. To assume that the rest of the vote is anti-BJP is incorrect

I didnt mean anti BJP voters watch them, I meant NDTV is targeting that audience block which is huge in number but the problem is they are limited to Hindi and English and not in vernacular languages. If they launch channel in local languages they will get larger audience.

There is no doubt in Hindi news channels NDTV got the best content (if you take away the bias or agenda). I think they will get more audience and will be more effective if they softly push the leftist agenda instead of aggressively pushing it with the likes of Barkha. When they show their pure hatred on and off screen that makes them lose more audience else they are still the best Hindi news channel out there.
