Power and capability Show of Al-Khalid Tank, Bahawalpur

Any hope the rest will be filled by Otokar Cobras ?

We need more of tracked vehicles as majority of our fight would happen in desert terrain and these Otokar Cobras may not be suitable for the desert terrain as they are not tracked vehicles.

But other Turkish options can be looked into, especially the M113 upgrade program.

. .
i think the army will stick to the m-113 variants.

and we should,
we can upgarade them indegeniously and produce variants as per requirement.
as Taimi suggested, the Turkish option can be explored to upgrade and modify the M-113 as per PA requirment.

600 AK1s are required (~350 in service)
and then another 600AK11 are required for a total of 1200 AKs - small batch production taking place due to budget availability.

What about having small funs raisers from public ??
i am sure they would give away fortunes !!

. .
Waiting for Al-Khalid II.
Its expected to be in serial production by Mid of 2011.

I have been talkin abt F.C getting tanks yet nbobdy seems to believe me....

Troops frm F.C Balouchistan are already in nowshehra for tank crew training etc....... so probably AL Zarars will be given to F.C or maybe AK.

FC is responsible for Border defense on the western border of Pakistan.

That is hills and mountains. Why would they need tanks?

What they need is Attack choppers, sniper rifles and APCs.

FC KP (NWFP) already have tanks in service and they are the Type-59s, thus FC Baluchistan getting them is no surprise, they should get them, its a very good supporting platform if used properly.

Al-Zarrars are hard to get by FC, most probably Type-59s for the time being.

Yeah the ACV-300 upgrade can be implemented on those M113s. I talked about it in the IFV thread. It is a cost effective way to turning a regular M113 into a impressive combat machine.

I think we should have got atleats 1200 Alkhalid 1 and than have produces 1000 al khalid 2 for army would have given great punch to our army our army also should consider Stryer or BTR 90 like thing to carry our armed forces in pakistan army their is nothing wheeled all tracked we should think serious aout them too

The AK and Zarrar are designed for two different environments..
It is very unlikely that the Zarrar will ever go into the desert.. as it is unlikely that the AK will hit the boggy plains of Punjab.

AK II still sits on paper.. and not on the testing phase..
AK and AK I are blurred lines.. since the changes are being implemented in bits and pieces across the line.
Right now.. the AK I in its complete form is the best heavy tank we possess.
The Zarrar is the best medium tank we possess.

What do you mean by boggy plains?

Because as far as i know, isn't the first armoured division at Multan, considered to be the punch of Pakistan Army, armed with Al-Khalids????

And that area is plains, not desert.
