What's new

Poverty to end by 2024

Do you realise that BD produces billions of medical needles every year?
Well, it is a good news that someone in 2017 has started to build a factory in Gazipur to manufacture medical needles. I do not have information that the factory is already producing BILLIONS of needles already. However, it is a positive news although all the machines were produced in a developed country and the importing company had to face tremendous irregularity at the BD Customs.

You have come to a good point. Many such small steps as this needle factory are needed to be taken by the BD people to build the country step by step and it takes many many decades to achieve a developed status. Do not forget other small items like sewing machines and needles. Leave aside the electronics lathe machines for now. It will take many decades.

Exactly it's my opinion too. Here most of peoples speak of the language of Bangladesh govt, that Bangladesh is doing great, Bangladesh will be doimg this and doing that, this investment will come, that will happen bla bla bla ..... It's not new in Bangladesh.
When BNP almost destroyed electricity sector, when in pg hospital man and dog was in same room, still khaleda zia was harping that Bangladesh is doing very well in every sectors and only awami league is spreading lie Because they are Indian agent.
Now awami league ( including leader),and it's side kicks are spreading the same lies .
Yes in few sector awami league performed very well but others are just bogus.
So now it's now not unexpected that awami league guys will tag anyone as the enemy of Bangladesh ,false flagger who will criticise the works of government.
And exactly this is the real dirty culture that Bangladeshis need to stop.
If you oppose me, you are the worst person in this world.
If you slightly disagree you are, "once good man and now became bad", this is our mentally.
The real problem is our intolerance .

Dude.....

Is it a lie that BD infrastructure is growing at rates never seen before?

Padma Bridge is not real?
Roopur nuclear power plant, Matarbari and Payra Coal power plant are not real?
Dhaka Metro line is not real?

BD economy is growing at nearly 8% a year?
Is it not true that last month exports grew a whopping 20% from a year before?

Please learn to think critically. BD was hampered before as it kept swapping governments every 5 years. I do not want to write an essay how this is very bad for a country like BD.

With at least another 5 years of stability under AL, BD economy and infrastructure growth will stay at breakneck speed.

Just because you do not "feel" this progress does not mean it is not real.

Optimism is certainly not foolish, but it must be based on reality seen in the performance of the people and government so far. We have to ask what are the necessary ingredients for development. GDP itself talks less comparing to the ground reality. Say something about building sewing machine factories. Has BD done it when the PM talks of an impossible Jet plane project?

Talk about waterlogging. Has it been solved except big talking every year? How about building power stations by the BD people themselves or an important bridge? How about building our own airports, railways, seaports, and highways with our own knowledge-based manpower instead of Chinese/ Japanese money and manpower, etc. etc.? When the manpower is not developed the country is not also developed.

Am I wrong to say that unless many difficult things are not undertaken by a country's people themselves, the talk of development to me sounds very hollow? Do you think Japan developed with the help of any other country? How about all the EU countries? it is the same. The US also same. China is following the same path as all other countries. Its people in a specified field learn from other countries and use that knowledge to do/build everything by themselves.

I do not think, the progress of BD today does show a bright better future. It is only because the govt and society have failed to organize the systems that will create a knowledge-based society to take the country to the next stage of development. We better do not talk a hollow developed country goal for 2041. A country cannot grow on one sector and its development cannot continue only with the foreigners' participation.

Denying BD's achievements because we cannot match Japan or build a power station is ridiculous. Give some credible reason for your position, don't just rant.

You've chosen a ridiculous target and claim BD failed because it didn't meet that target. What is hollow (and disingenuous) is your baseless demand for Japan levels of industrialisation.

- sewing machines... @Bilal9 has explained this amply, try to digest it. You are free to open a sewing machine factory in BD, you will find that all the ingredients are available and the expertise too. But you won't, while labelling the society lazy.

- waterlogging, unsolved? BD is officially the wettest country on earth (highest ratio of water to land), it is a delta and it is on the coast. It is also hugely overcrowded. Now give me an explanation of how you were expecting to solve this in 50 years let alone the last 10 years?

You blame the govt AND society. BD imports most raw materials and therefore we don't have much industrial experience. On the other hand, we have been blessed with fertile land, and we have proved to use this impeccably. If anything, give credit to Bangladeshi people for making most of what they have.

Aptly put @PersonasNonGrata bhai. I have been watching this character for a while and per my humble opinion,

1. This guy is not only not a Bangladeshi but is a proven false flagger. I have asked this person Bengali questions and they couldn't answer me in Bengali rightaway (in English spelling even). Bengali responses from him (or her) took up a day or more, which leads me to believe, some Kolkata dada/didi is helping him/her out with the Bengali responses. I will gladly eat my words if this person can prove beyond a doubt that they are Bangladeshi (which their flag suggests).

2. This person has zero idea and knows jack squat about Bangladeshi industrial products or what gets made in Bangladesh. To most sane people in Bangladesh or in any free market, producing something locally vs. importing them falls in the financial calculations and decision dept. Like you said, it has nothing to do with capability. If the market is not large enough and if you can import Chinese sewing machines cheaper than can be made locally, industrialists will simply import, because it makes economic sense. There is no stupid nationalistic reason to make everything locally (like say, India), even if our country was as big as (say) India is. But to gauge everything about the industrial progress of a country on local manufacture is foolish and the mark of a half-educated mind indicating a background of little exposure to the world outside Bangladesh/India.

And the ranting on and on like a broken record about making sewing needles, I have had it with this guy. It's like some old hapless 'Kerani' (pen pusher) in your own company under your employ who drones on incessantly about useless things, but you have to resist manhandling some sense into this person because you feel sorry for them.

It's clear that this person is in need of attention (even negative attention) in their life of misery, that's why they come back here repeatedly to get abused. Bizarre!

A great Bangladeshi trait is that we keep things real, BD people have never been afraid to raise criticism of the Govt and we are skeptical of new information.

But criticism should be honest, balanced and unbiased - which @bluesky is severely lacking

No its not lie . However this is the biggest lie , no matter how differently you guys try to explain .
And this is just not only lie but madness . She is trying to say that we are becoming so developed that we have a possibility to go to moon. read this part of the news about going to space and moon carefully.

First make sure that everyone can have food and shelter. Make sure that everyone is getting better quality treatment. you don't have to dream of visiting moon or making spaceship . Or even don't have to try making aircraft .
First try to make what is necessary . very few peoples in Bangladesh can afford travelling by air .
They need quality city transport in every city, need safe street, need political quota free jobs , they need lots of trains all over Bangladesh, its really necessary , so that peoples don't have to suffer in traffic jam , specially in Eid time when returning to home.
Create some job outside dhaka and chittagong , so peoples can live better life .
Do you have any idea what is the condition of middle and lower jobs in bangladesh? You don't have .Do you have any idea what is house rent in dhaka outside slums? You have no idea .
You guys live aboard , do better jobs , get higher salaries , live elite life so you will never see the opposite side of the coin.

@bluesky is not a falseflagger. I may be a "new member" here but I have been following this section of PDF for more than half a decade now (P.S.- I am also the first person to call out Raita-Al-Biriyani on his fake ID).

I have been observing the posts of regular members here including his.

Don't always agree with his opinions or tone but he means well for BD.

However, I rate his harsh criticisms of BD way higher than the obviously fake, rosy pictures some members here try to paint.

Harsh criticism is welcome - it's no skin off anyone's nose here. But there is a difference between criticism and pointless negativity.

U think BD can't produce needles too?

Guess what? India has more poor people than BD but they completed a Mars mission. A nation needs to feed it's poor but it also needs to nurture its talents.

First we need to provide made in Bangladesh products as much as we can and stop importing everything from other countries .
Other than ranting govt should focus on them. It's very important. Only garments export will not give us better future. We don't have sufficient natural resources like middle east , but we have talent and we can use them for good. Dreaming of made in Bangladesh aircraft is meaning less, I want made in Bangladesh truck that will outperform tata of India.
We always have this ability. But no govt focused on such things other than ranting.
It's time to wake up. 47 years of independence has passed and we are still ranting and not working together.

Dude, export growth and tax receipts do not lie.

Unless you are so paranoid to claim that BD tax receipts are fake?

Please accept your lot in life and you will be a more content person.

Who cares what your opinion is, idiot. Learn more things rather than making personal attacks and sending tons of unnecessary photographs. Being a hereditary Gadha are you capable to watch or know anybody's character?

Stop whining and come to the debate like a person with knowledge and experience. Bloody monkey, what of kind character you are!! Anyone who disagrees with your stupid opinion is an anti-BD and false flagger!! You are the number one idiot here. You are so allergic to others' free opinion!!!

Down to ad hominem, you poor miserable sod you.

Let Bhagwan help you learn some etiquette. And Thank Bhagwan that this is the Internet and I gave you the opportunity to insult me. Consider this a golden opportunity.

Atlas is another account created by this moron. Created just in case he gets banned.

It is clear that,

a) These two guys (Atlas and Bluesky) cannot stand the progress achieved in Bangladesh, and,

b) They have an agenda to put down any positive news about Bangladesh, and,

c) They have taken up the mantle to continually create trouble and unease in our section of the forum from that Tamil Sanghi.

Do not claim silly things. What is the progress when the women in Dhaka and Chittagong have to raise their Sarees above the knees to avoid waterlogging? Instead of building jets and going to Mars, please fix this type of problems before you talk about a developed BD by 2041. Are you guys moron? You are writing Ramayan before Ram is born, stupid.

@PersonasNonGrata bhai, this guy has little if any clue on how to solve water resources management issues and yet he acts like a hydraulics expert and puts forth 'opinions' that border on the ridiculous. Waterlogging and flooding during intense rain is a natural phenomena in all deltas, even the Mississipi delta in the US, as well as upstream.

It is not the govts. fault. Water Resources Ministry in Bangladesh is way more aggressive on this than any other larger country, including India.

I might not know everything about flood management - but I do know that Bangladesh does far more to resolve flooding issues as a lower riparian country by way of dredging than even India. Bangladesh dredging program is aggressive enough that we have been fabricating our own large and medium size dredgers locally for the last fifteen years, not to mention smaller dredgers in smaller yards. Lately we have started using barge mounted excavators in smaller canals even to maintain navigability.

Dredging technology provider Vosta LMG, and Karnafuly Shipyard have jointly delivered a total of 10 cutter-suction dredgers (CSD) for the Bangladesh Inland Transport Water Authority (BITWA) and the Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB).
The order includes six CSD 450’s for the BITWA and four CSD 500’s for the BWDB.

Vosta LMG and Karnafuly have now delivered a total of 15 cutter-suction dredgers to Bangladesh, with the dredgers used to keep the Bangladesh waterway system navigable.

The dredgers were built at the Karnafuly Chittagong Shipyard where they were commissioned by a joint specialist team, including employees from both Karnafuly and Vosta.

One of the largest dredgers in the world built in Bangladesh using IHC Beaver Merwede ToT.

Smaller dredgers built in one of the one hundred odd yards around Bangladesh.

Remember the floods in Bihar last year? Things will only get worse upstream of the Farakka because these schmucks don't spend even one paisa on dredging related activity on their river channels and waterways.

The more they divert the water at Farakka into the skinny Hooghly, the more flooding will happen in Bihar and points upstream. Nature takes its own toll in strange but natural ways.

I suspect you are an Indian Hindu. So, ask your Bhagwan to punish me for telling the truth. You will be drinking 900 Taka a cup of tea in 2041, no doubt. You are just a garbage in your own country.

Rant is the wrong word, the Govt is exaggerating, that is what they do for votes. But they are not the ones who will make products in BD, people have to do it.

What you are saying sounds simple, but it is isn't. To make everything at home, you have to import the raw materials - which makes it more expensive for you than for a country who produces that material. Also some countries are buying so much raw material they get a cheaper rate - you will pay the full price in Bd. They are also more experienced than you, How can you then compete with them? It takes genius business men and they are the ones taking BD forward. I am not pushing government propaganda, I'm asking for credit to your own countrymen.
