Buddy you missed my point...I was only talking about "Us and Them" phrase...DISCRIMINATION...Was not going into reasoning...But are you saying that those people like to live in dirt??? I get it when you say they don't want to move but may i ask why you think they don't want to move???
No one likes to live in dirt mate, its circumstances that make people live in dirt; Especially when you know developing your slum on nallah will save you from BMC bulldozers, three years later politician promises you tap and electricity connection in exchange for votes
Later you can develop your slum, raise an floor on it lease the ground floor as commercial
Dharavi is known for its commercial activities mate, small scale industry outside, black market inside, child labour to food adulteration its all done here, gates guarded by mumbai police
I am not sure about the reasoning but if i have the powers of CM i would like to know the reasons as to why people in Dharavi don't want to move and then with in my jurisdiction would try to solve those concerns...Is this because they love dirt(even stupid to think off) or the accommodations that are being provided are not good enough - not easily accessible ...will hurt their jobs etc etc....
I would love to have an honest person like you on CM's seat in my state, but then it won't happen because you don't understand Indian Politics. See migrants=votes, this middle class won't vote then why not convince these migrants that if you get elected you'll make them legitimate Middle class will ask for Infrastructure, center may deny funds, they can't deny funds for basic necessity
Anyways, 15000 crore has been sanctioned by GoI to redevelop slums in Dharavi where in only those who came before 1995 will get new homes in Dharavi and rest will be relocated outside Mumbai. Now politicians want slum dwellers who came before 2000 to get homes in Dharavi, which will result in minor changes in redevelopment fund... nothing big, just 65000 crore
Affordable Housing is announced by CM for middle class at price band of 3 lakh to 9 lakh But where are these affordable houses coming? it takes atleast 2 hours from these sites to reach mumbai... i.e. take money from taxpayers, build houses for non taxpayers in heart of Mumbai and throw the original inhabitants out of mumbai
