Because of your massive vocal Bangistan brigade . You will have to prove to us for another 10 to 20 years that you are truly ambassadors of the Bengali culture....after what has happened during BNP rule etc.

If such things return, sorry you are not Bengalis and will not be recognised as such overall by those that have always 100% consistently espoused Bengali culture and society (in India).

I mean there are even Bangladeshi individuals here claiming your national anthem is too "Hindu influenced blah blah".

1971 was a good move to get the ball rolling, but Bangladesh needs more years of maturity and development behind it before it can be properly seen as genuinely Bengali.

Good, we are waiting and watching. I am not talking from personal opinion (I already recognise Bangladeshis that want to be as Bengalis etc...I have way too many Bangladeshi friends not to do this ).

I am speaking from the view of (West) Bengalis etc..in India. Just like you have reasons to not look on them as Bengali, they have reasons to do the same for you. It goes both ways....but in the end both sides should be made aware of them, so the real issues can be tackled...especially within Bangladesh where there is an active counter movement against Bengali culture. Whereas in India, Bengali culture has left an indelible imprint...and continues to be unique one within its State to a large degree.

Again I am explaining the perceptional difference from this side. The onus lies on Bangladesh to prove this....because in recent history various things did not look so good for promotion of full unfettered Bengali based culture... But I am quite optimistic about it....but as Reagan said: Trust but Verify!

To claim Bengali you have to show the source why you claim yourself a Bengali. Bengalis are the people of the land of Bhanga. And that Bhanga is still in BD. The people surrounded by Padma Meghna sunderban and some other small and big rivers on west sides are real Bengali. More precisely the Faridpur area people. Later Muslim invaders and British started to name all historical places known as Bengal we know. So why you guys want our name which isnt your part? Its like Africans migrated to Europe million years ago still calling themselves African instead of European.

Indian invasion has not yet happened but an unstable Bangladesh is bad for East and Northeast India. So India may invade BD once there is huge political anarchy post Hasina-Khaleda era.

And who said Bangladeshis are not Bengalis? Its like saying Pakistani Punjabis are not Punjabis, only Indian Punjabis are Punjabis. Punjab and Bengal are mainly in Pakistan and Bangladesh respectively. We may have Arab, Turk, Persian ancestry due to Islam but we are mainly Bengalis.

Bangladesh comprises of 2/3 of the Bengal. West Bengal comprises of 1/3 of the Bengal. So who are majority?

@ Go deep inside the history and read the origin of Muslims of Bengal and not to remain within 1947 to 1971.

@ The Bengali Muslims of Bengal are not original and it was 1st propagated from the Hindu writers of Bengal. Initially, nobody paid any hid to it but later once Muslims of Bengal became educated many theories and controversies arose which is still continuing. I suggest you to read the book of Mohar Ali, "The Muslims of Bengal ". Then you might have little bit idea.

During the time of British Rule after the fall Nawab Seraj-u-Dowla, Hindu writers tried to prove that we were outsiders and they were the original Bengali people and once we got separated and became part of Pakistan now they changed their face and argued for a greater Bengali culture, be a Muslim or Hindu and finally they became successful. Now, they are trying to infiltrate in our culture and trying hard to impose their culture in the name of Bengali culture so that we became volunteer to be a Part of greater Bengal and be a part of West Bengal. .

Im saying we dont have any responsibility to follow Kolkata based Bengali culture. Kolkatans dont have to follow us as they are already look south and delhi type. Kolkata history started in 18th century certainly not the pioneer of Bengal. And their 200 years of culture wont settle the direction of Bengali based culture. Whatever culture will generate from BD in future, If we say it you have to accept it as real Bengali. We are not only Bengali but also world citizen, so world culture is also ours no point stuck in some ideologies.

md akmal as I know is from varendra area. That is a place where gupta murya sena all type of people migrated. Now if they say people from those said lands migrated also why this itching? Its well documented. Even we who migrated from Murshidabad are real Bengali now by migrating to real Bengal but you from Barisal who was ancient Bengali not a real Bengali anymore. Same way your west neighbors who claim to be the early inhabitants of Indus valley because they have most of those lands in possession even though they are not native. Deep in your heart you know India is not the whole India but north west area similarly Bengal is not whole Bengal but situated in south west part of Bangladesh and Bengalis are those who inhabited here in course of history.
