Post Balakot Panic: India using Israeli guided missile against Kashmiri Civilians at LoC
By Farzana Shah
The month of February has not only carved its significance for Kashmiris living across the world as a month to expose Indian brutalities on them but also a warning month reminding the world of threats Indian aggression poses to world peace.
The world on Feb 27, 2019 had witnessed a war like situation between India & Pakistan when India tried to play another misadventure, only to be surprised by shooting down of her aircraft by Pakistani JF-17 Thunder.
Indian forces heavily shelled Pakistani side of Kashmir on the night between Feb 7 & 8.
The unarmed Kashmiris were subjected to target of Guided Missiles with Tandem warhead in violation of international laws.
Upon analysis the unexploded object fired by India into Pakistani Kashmir, turns out to be ( BGM-71 TOW) guided missile which they used for targeting civilian populated area.
It is important to know that Nato supplied weapons carrying the following markings which helps US forces along with Allied forces to keep track of their weapon systems.
Upon reviewing the Operations manual of the TOW missile System, it was established that Tow missile launchers and Missiles are marked as following
Similar weapon system was found in use in Syria however it is important to note that it had standard NATO markings on the Missile tube unlike the missile which landed on a house in Kashmir
Background:
Spike LR, a fourth-generation fire-and-forget anti-tank guided missile, has been designed and developed by Israel’s Rafael Advanced Defense Systems.
It is pertinent to mention that RAFAEL's Spike Family includes Spike NLOS, Spike ER, Spike MR/LR and Spike SR.
Short range SR / medium range MR / Long range LR / ER extended range (helicopter)/ Mini Spike / spike NLOS (Non Line Of Sight") is an ultra-long range version of the weapon (Israeli special ops )
Indian Army had successfully test-fired the newly-acquired Spike anti-tank guided missiles.
A per the specifications “Spike LR can engage a target with precision at ranges up to four km.”
India is the 33rd country to procure the Spike missile from Israel. India has acquired 240 spike missiles from Israel after the Balakot operation debacle.
After Feb 27, 2019 Balakot airstrike debacle India is under immense pressure and great panic as Indian NAG ATGM were under testing phase still not developed whereas long placed expensive order of Spike missile system was rejected by the parliament.
Driven by panic the Indian Army had to place urgent short order of Spike missile system as per requirement until homemade NAG system gets developed as deal swings in between approval and suspension.
On the other hand Israel had developed 5th generation of Spike missile now they are in NO need of BGM TOW weapon system so they found India--a suitable market to sell it.
Though not publically disclosed but as per inside reports during urgent sale deal of Spike, Israel sold some under the table BGM TOW to clear off their stocks.
The under the table deal was made to avoid US wrath since it is US-Made weapon system and she would not allow its sale to a third country as it has specific identification types.
Israel is user of BGM along with other 36 nations of which
only Israel and India have weapon contract though in the media only Spike deal is made public but under the table India is also buying BGM as the country is in need of ATGMs.
Interesting both failed which is another debacle for the manufacturer but for the buyer as well.
Above all Indian action of using short/Long range guided missile in civilian populated area is a war crime, an utter violation of international laws, which needs to be addressed at higher international forum such as UN.
